So the good news is my cat's alive and not likely to die any time soon! The bad news is they stil don't know what the lump actually was. They took it out with only minor complications - it was a lot deeper than they'd realised, so they had to cut a fair way into him and leave some tubes in his side for a few days to drain the fluids and relieve ( Read more... )

So the cat goes to pet hospital tomorrow to have the mysterious lump removed. The vet said that the results of the test they did were inconclusive, and we had three options - leave it and see what happens, do another test, or just take the whole thing out and find out what it is that way. Someone tell me everything they know about arthritis? Both my parents have it terribly, and I know it's hereditary, which is why I have decided that this awful ache in my joints I get when it's cold - my knees mostly, but this winter it seems to be spreading to my elbow and hip - ISN'T arthritis.
