I found an upside to the camp cold. It was pretty harsh on my throat, so my singing voice is a little rough, but I just discovered that I suddenly have a vocal range of about 3 1/2 octaves. I don't know what it was before, but I think I can sing almost a full octave lower than I used to be able to. And at the same time I can hit a couple notes ( Read more... )

I have fresh pesto, good bread, and 20+ pounds of tomatoes.

2 out of the 3 of those came from going to the pesto fest at our cute little organic CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm.

I love my CSA.

So camp was great, and I'm home now. I thought I wasn't going to get sick, and my sore throat did clear up after I stopped singing and talking all the time, but now I've got a minor head cold and the stupid airplane screwed up my left ear. I'm leaving for camp at 5am tomorrow. I have to pack for camp, unpack boxes and tidy in the living room, go to the library and bank and post office, bake a pie, move the stereo and hook up the new set of speakers in the kitchen, fix our new perfect only $50 huge table (one of the leaves won't stay up) and finish patching my backpack so it won't ( Read more... )

I don't want to feel anyones emotions except for my own. Last night there were points where I had a really hard time remembering who I was and what I was feeling. I've got enough to figure out on my own, I don't need to feel other peoples extreme unhappiness. Or even other peoples extreme happiness, which is more fun but I'd rather just have my own ( Read more... )
