I just got notification that my little sister passed the National Boards on her first try!! That means she is certified to teach without having to do anythign else for 10 years!!

I'm so proud of her I could pop!!

So it occurred to me last night as I was voting, that politicians make fat wads of money. These same politicians get to decide their own pay and vote for their own raises. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most people have their pay and raises set by their employer, and they don't get much input into the process? And is it not also true ( Read more... )

Why is it, the more stuff you pack, the more you have left to pack?

I'm beginning to think that our stuff is breeding to fill the empty space.

Only one real "ouch" was found in the inspection. We need a new roof. It'll have to be re-roofed, and all the skylights will have to be replaced at that time. Seems that was never put together correctly from the start. But that'll take care of the leaks and will make the house even more energy efficient. I leave in about 10 minutes to go meet the home inspector and the real estate agent for the inspection on the house. Once the inspection is done and all parties approve it, then the appraisal will happen. Once that is done and approved, it all comes down to about and hour and a half of paperwork and we own a house ( Read more... )
