I just read Peggy Orenstein's What's Wrong With Cinderella? The article asks whether or not the Disney Princess franchise is turning today's three year-olds into tomorrow's insecure, materialistic, depressed women. Well, who would have thought?

Calvin&Hobbes vs. Fight Club. Mainly a joke essay comparing the ultra-violent, philosophical film/book and the ultra-whimsical, philosophical comic strip. I like the latter better, but this essay definitely drifts into crack!fic, no doubt about it.

I have found yet another childhood relic on You Tube in the form of "Worthless" from The Brave Little Toaster. The song is no less sad when I was younger, but the animation is disappointing. (EDIT: Okay, maybe just dated.)

I just came back from a concert for the wizard rock band, The Whomping Willows. He's an awesome, talented guy on a guitar who has been "posessed" by the Whomping Willow of Harry Potter fame, writing humorous songs where he doesn't take himself too seriously.
