My first instinct would be to visit the Hospital in person, but I suppose a communication in this form would be more convenient for those more used to this technology.  Which is a roundabout way of saying that I am interested in working at the Hospital and unsure who to specifically contact about this.

My training must certainly be out of date, ( Read more... )

getting used to this (almost), was probably just feeling lazy today, job search, posting his resume online

1878...yeah, you're pretty much going to have to relearn everything.

Okay. I'm probably being mean about that. The 1800s were not my favorite time.

Another doctor on staff would be great.

That implies you experienced the 1800s as well as more recent times, and not merely by experiencing the turn of the century. We're you present for previous decades?

You are one of the current doctors, then?

Yes, I was. I really didn't think much of human medicine or technology at the time.

And yes again--I was hired recently.

Do you mind telling me about what it is that you are, not being human?

Watson, as quickly as you have learned the peculiarities of this technology, surely the medicine of this place will not elude you either.

onefixedpoint September 18 2009, 23:54:26 UTC
I certainly hope it won't, though I hardly expected to have to learn so much at this point in life, at least as far as medicine and new technology. I expect I will always be struggling to learn more of your methods.

Yes, perhaps you always will, in regards to my methods.

Perhaps it would be best for you to devote yourself more to your vocation than to mine.

I imagine it would be less frustrating in more ways than one.

Though I do plan to keep a chronicle of our time in the City, and any problems worthy of your attention.

You might wish to get in touch with a Dr. Lisa Cuddy. She's currently the one in charge.

I look forward to working with you, should you get the position. I'm Dr. Solomon Goldsmith...

In that case, I shall do so.

A pleasure to meet you Dr. Goldsmith.

Likewise...

I couldn't help but to notice the date you mentioned... as well as serving in the military... I'd be interested in hearing more about your experiences from that time.

[ooc: 100 year old-ish chevalier served in WW2 and got his medical degree around that time. XD Not that he's told anyone else that... but... anyway.]

I would be perfectly willing to tell you all you wish to hear, but as much as I've done and as many places that I've been, my most interesting experiences have occurred as part of my association with Sherlock Holmes. Unfortunately my records of those cases are lost to me, but I am attempting to re-create them. Which is no arduous task, with the man himself around to consult.

[ooc: Still more up to date than Watson, then, sob.]

You're pre-penicillin. That's not just catching up.

If retraining is what it takes, then I'm prepared for that. I believe medicine remains my vocation, no matter how much its practice has changed.

sob, poor Watson. worksmart September 19 2009, 01:14:44 UTC
Well you're looking at four years worth of retraining before anyone of sound mind lets you so much as write out a scrip.

Then again, sound minds are pretty lacking around here.

Watson agreen on the sound minds, he is just too polite to say onefixedpoint September 19 2009, 01:46:39 UTC
I rather hope I will not remain here for so many years, but I suppose I could at least provide some assistance to others.

And even in the best of circumstances, a sound mind is a precious commodity.

Or maybe it was cavemen instead of the dinosaurs?
