Merry Christmas Eve

I'm in Halifax, planning a quiet Christmas with my computer and thesis before the insanity of a new term starts. It is not an ideal holiday but it will do.

I walked into work this morning and when I stopped by the main office, the two women there asked what I thought of the weather. It is a touch cold today (-7C, which I think is about 20 F), but we had a snow storm over the weekend and all the trees are heavy with snow, and lawns are sheets of crisp white spaces. I went to the agricultural field day held as part of the fall fair today. There were typical thing like a corn maze, craft demonstrations (I saw demonstrations of basket weaving, spinning and loom weaving) and a petting zoo.

A ramble through the waterfowl park

There are some world renowned marshlands around Sackville, and the town has built the waterfowl park as a way to preserve a piece of the marsh and make it accessible. This morning I went for a walk, there are about 5 km of trails and boardwalks. I came across this event, short films about natural subjects. The screening is in NYC next week and it sounds like a lot of fun. One of you NYC people should go and then tell me it was as awesome as it is in my imagination.
