Ontd read but only half the post. But GOOD FOR HER!! Society needs to stop acting like periods are disgusting and taboo. They are a part of nature.

Just because something is natural doesn't mean it isn't disgusting; see pooping, putrefaction, birds.

She’s right. And further, as someone who is in the process of trying to have a baby, I’ve been shocked at what I’ve learned as an adult, from my friends/family having kids, that was not taught to me at a younger age or really any age, about pregnancy/labor/delivery. I went to an all girls Catholic high school and was only really taught abstinence only sec Ed, and even though we got more in biology classes, I honestly wonder why they didn’t teach more about what could happen from a biological perspective v. the whole sin thing. Like, the shit I’ve learned as an adult is much more effective at scaring me than the sin aspect. But I also think they purposely don’t tell women these things until it’s too late for you to NOT have a baby. Honestly it’s kinda crazy to me that our species has survived as long as it has and multiplied so hugely because this shit is CRAAAAZY.

I also laugh when health grifters pretend infertility is a recent phenomenon. Fertility statues existed for thousands of years for a reason.

like she didn't know about ovulation? also there's no reason to ever specify what you're going to the bathroom to do. why would anyone want to know?

also there's no reason to ever specify what you're going to the bathroom to do.

Came in here to say this. Are there toilet gatekeepers? Just go to the bathroom. You don't even need to say that's where you're going.

You seem really determined to miss the point

Why are you so angry? I'm just saying you don't need to qualify going to the bathroom.

There’s also a huge issue with men not knowing women’s body’s and vice versa. And I don’t mean from a sexual perspective. It’s just this thing that is shameful to talk about amongst men. Like
men should know about women’s periods as well. Saying the word period or tampon shouldn’t be something that’s whispered about. It’s just sad how we aren’t taught about our own bodies and how they work.

oh my god the worst vid i ever saw was a lady interviewing men on the street and asking questions like, "can women pee when they're using a tampon?" and these mfers said no. i asked my brother and he was like "................yes ....? it's ... a different ... pipe?" unsure, but at least he got there.

edit: want to add that a friend didn't know she could pee while using a tampon well into her 20s.

I mean, even now I'm still working on feeling confident saying to, I don't know, a colleague or someone like, 'Excuse me, I really need to use the restroom. I need to change my tampon. I really need to go right now.'

Do you really need to tell me why you need to go to the restroom? I really truly do not care about why you're going to the restroom.

I'm so glad I no longer have a period.

But also where’s the tampon? Is it in a purse? Is she now taking her purse into the bathroom? Is she grabbing one from her purse? I understand that we don’t need to know WHAT someone is doing in the can. I think this is a way to address a lot of women instinctively hide any sanitary product. WHY?!

Even if she whipped out her tampon from her purse, I wouldn't even think twice about it. People have periods. The only thing I care about when people go to the restroom is to just wash your damn hands.

One hundred percent. But how many women do you see whip out tampons or pads in public? Or how girls are embarrassed to buy them. Kids today have self checkout so they don’t know having to buy your pads from a classmate working as a cashier or bagger at the grocery store.
Hell, judy blume made bank off of the awkward adolescent puberty. I think it’s all to normalize all parts of periods even the terminology.
