I was a big Taylor fan back in middle/high school and remember all the drama behind Dear John and the line

“don’t you think I was too young to be messed with? the girl in the dress cried the whole way home. I shoulda known.”

bc it was honestly so relatable to every teenaged girl who thought dating a college-aged guy made us look cool. I had no clue she pulled the exact same shit with a teenaged Kennedy kid a few years later until I was much older.

The hypocrisy and the damn audacity to (rightfully) drag somebody publicly through the mud for doing something and then seeing nothing wrong with pulling the exact same stunt.

yeah, she made a big deal about the age difference with jake last year, but she was 20, an adult, he was 29. i think her being 22 and dating a 17 yr old who's still in high school was much worse

as a Tom stan back in the day, I found is frustrating how everyone/her stans kept calling him a fame whore and he was the one calling the paparazzi and dragging her around when he historically before and after her was quite on the downlow. Like I think him having a kid is still not wider knowledge

John’s disgusting so he deserves it, but otherwise I find most of her lyrics about relationships aren’t that bad and the drama over it is overblown as far as the lyrics themselves. Obviously she’s a drama queen who encourages people to guess what the songs are about.

Like they're literally waiting for it, I think someone was saying the Kennedy boy was warned off by her family for 'what she'll write about you after' or something.

I remember Michael J fox making a joke about how he didn't want his son to date her because he didn't want her to write songs about him and he had to publicly apologize. That was during that weird era where she was untouchable. No one was allowed to make jokes about her or they'd "have a special place in hell."
