I had occasion today to go to the Amazon.com site to get some books (no scruffycritter , I'm not repopulating all the shelves this week. Might take me another week or two.) I have been a slug today.  I did not get stuff done that I wanted to get done.  What I did accomplish was all on the computer:  installing new versions of AdAware and Spybot and doing a huge backup.  Hopefully that'll be it for awhile.

Meanwhile I'm still a slug.  And enjoying it.    So happy Slug Day.

Today is Saturday. Normally I wouldn't have to work but the Ubiquitous Web App that they keep updating and making me participate in UAT for every two months is again being updated. The new hard drive has arrived today. I'm in the process of backing up everything that I've restored so far (not all that much) so that I can remove the current HD and install the new one. The new one is completely blank, so I will have to restore the image on the disc from Dell if I want all of their utilities etc. I'm....thinking about it. I ( Read more... )

It's done! The bamboo flooring is laid! The Handyman Deluxe laid the last piece of T-molding in the front room this afternoon to much rejoicing from Yours Truly. Drachenschloss now has an oddly Scandinavian-looking front room, with all that blond wood. I'll get some pictures taken and post them eventually. My computer HD was not replaced. I was talked through restoring the original image and have to reinstall everything. Joy. Unfortunately, not the filk group. :-( I have been having bad sectors appear randomly on the laptop HD and was unable to run chkdsk. So last night I got into the recovery partition and ran it from the DOS prompt there. All well and good, except that now I've been unable to get past the "Bad PBR" error ( Read more... )
