It came to my attention earlier that the last entry in my journal is from my vacation at the end of 2010. Since we're about to end 2011, let me hit some of the "highlights" of this year:

+ scruffycritter is still alive, despite his cardiologist's practice trying to kill him last Christmas
- scruffycritter lost more hearing in his right ear and is still suffering from leg issues

This year scruffycritter and I are not going to Oregon, thus avoiding both weather and TSA madness (yay for that). It does mean we won't see Mama at Christmas, but we did see her in August and I am proud of myself that I have managed to keep up a mostly-daily email correspondence with her. It's weird being here before Christmas. I have my shopping pretty much done I think, but tomorrow we're going to be helping decorate the tree downstairs (before scruffycritter and I go out to dinner to celebrate our 14th anniversary) and tonight we're going to Shore Acres to see the Christmas lights. Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for being able to come home to see my mom for the holiday and for her 90th birthday. I'm really thankful that she's reached that birthday and is still with us both mentally and physically. Hurray ( Read more... )

We have once more reluctantly left God's Country. The trip was blissfully uneventful and we made it home without incident. I'm hoping the rest of the week will be just as quiet. Monday's inevitable, but I can enjoy the peace and quiet until then.

Tomorrow morning at 0-silly-o'clock we will once again attempt to fly between North Bend and San Francisco in preparation for returning to VA. I really hate leaving the Northwest and my mother, but don't see much choice at this point. Then again, if the airline decides to strand us, here's hoping it's in Oregon rather than California ( Read more... )
