My parents had scheduled a Mystery Trip with me for today. I had instructions: Wear long pants and sleeves, closed-toe shoes, no perfume, no jewelry. I guessed it had something to do with animals, given that, but it was better than I had guessed:

E, H, and I went to the Museum of Contemporary Craft, which was awesome. I think it may be my new favorite museum (sorry OMSI!). I especially liked this exhibit, which was a mechanical and glass structure that played the glass bowls like wine glasses. Haunting and beautiful ( Read more... )

My uncle passed away around 1am this morning. My aunt was with him, holding his hand, and said he 'just slipped out of the room.' He was talking, and though she said she couldn't understand the words, she thought they were all kind things.

I'm doing ok. Sad, and I miss him, but ok.

I am waaaaaay behind in updating y'all about my life, and the post I need to make to do it just keeps getting longer and longer, and thus harder and harder to actually get done ( Read more... )

My aunt sent along this picture of my grandefather today. I love it. It looks so much like him, and yet... not. More relaxed, cooler, younger, obviously. He passed away several years ago from a brain tumor, and I miss him. Was kind of a jolt to get the picture unexpectedly, but I love it. Need to get it printed out nicely so I can frame it.

I'm rewatching The Godfather, Part 2. This and the first one are one of those many rather age-inappropriate movies I saw as a kid because my dad loved them so much. I have fond memories of sitting on his lap while he helped explain the whole horse head scene in the first film.
