Godfather, Part 2

I'm rewatching The Godfather, Part 2. This and the first one are one of those many rather age-inappropriate movies I saw as a kid because my dad loved them so much. I have fond memories of sitting on his lap while he helped explain the whole horse head scene in the first film. I was never scared while I watched them (and after watching Dirty Harry ( Read more... )

It's very possible if it was on TV, they took it out. I remember the cut versions of a lot of movies up until recently removing any content containing prostitution work. It's been a very hush-hush thing.

I too had interesting movie choices as a child. I loved Rocky Horror, and I think I was seven. I didn't get half of it until later.

Which is an interesting juxtaposition to my dislike of Glee doing an RHPS segment. I don't know - maybe I have become conservative of late, but I think my main issue is with the public discourse. RHPS is a fringe thing, something that was so preposterous and over the top as to be almost asexual in some regards, and they made it into a giant struggle against The Man and his Censhorship Mobile.

Not only that, but watching two teenagers in cheerleader uniforms singing, "Toucha-toucha-toucha touch me! I wanna feel diiiirty!" as they ran down a school corridor creeped me the fsck out.

Just managed to finish the second one as well, per your recommendation. That scene really did seem to come out of nowhere, and as I've only seen both movies once I can't really say that I know exactly what's going on. But if the television company was going to cut a scene, I'll bet they could get rid of that one without it affecting TOO much plot. Of course, I'm painting while I watch so maybe I missed something that makes dead prostitutes integral to the plot itself. Couldn't say.
