Headed over to Imagine Cinemas with LC to watch the movie adaptation of Ransom Riggs book Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I haven't read the books (LC has). I had no idea what to expect. Yesterday LC and I headed over to my favourite cinema the TIFF Lightbox to watch Singin' in the Rain (1952) on the big screen. I love this movie. It's one of my favs! This is the first film my dad saw when he came to Canada from Italy. Headed out this am for an 11am showing of Jason Bourne. Fantastic movie - crazy wild ride and absolutely more fun than Bond imo (not that Bond is bad by any stretch). If you didn't know already Suicide Squad filmed here last year and pretty much made a nuisance of themselves while here, shutting down major streets and causing a lot of commuter headaches for Torontonians. Earlier this afternoon I went to see The Legend of Tarzan. Best movie I've seen all summer. Just loved it! I thought it captured the spirit of Tarzan perfectly and I think Edgar Rice Burroughs would have been very happy with this incarnation of Tarzan. The closest movie theatre to us is Market Square Cinema which is owned & operated by Rainbow Cinemas/Magic Lantern Theatres or WERE owned and operated by them or maybe still is. It seems they've undergone a changed of some sort and are now displaying the "Imagine Cinema" logo. Although strangely I can't find any info on it besides a Mareket Square ( Read more... )

In the last X-Men movie the plot was so complex and convoluted that I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have. In this one the plot was simpler making the movie more enjoyable. I wasn't trying to figure out how the plot fit in with the original trilogy etc. Going into the theatre I didn't expect much considering it's an X-Men movie and it's a fun ( Read more... )
