Headed over to Imagine Cinemas with LC to watch the movie adaptation of Ransom Riggs book Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I haven't read the books (LC has). I had no idea what to expect. Movie was interesting and Asa Butterfield is a great young actor but I was confused by one particular 'timeline' issue which didn't make sense to me and is very confusing. Maybe it's explained better in the books but LC couldn't remember if it was a factor in them or not. Also LC said that 50% of the movie is embellished compared to the books and also pointed out things in the books that don't appear in it, what was left out, and characters having more prominent roles in the books vs on screen, and stuff from the second book that was incorporated into the movie. Plus two teenage female characters had their 'powers' reversed for the screen adaptation although there is no explanation as to why. Eva Green was fantastic as Miss Peregrine but she is always great in any role she takes on! I did like the movie over all but I wouldn't say it was my favourite YA book to movie adaptation.
