My big sis just called me, My brother calls her, and lets her spread the word. They've taken Alyssa off life support. Her kidneys have shut down, the blood cell engraftment did not take, and she's been unresponsive the past two days. The end is a few days away ( Read more... )

As of tuesday night, doctors were preparing us for the worst. Today? She's inexplicibly a little better. Blood counts up. Not enough to say she's engrafted yet. Still will need surgery of some sort. Which is a major thing in her condition. No decision made on dialysis yet..Situation still very serious, but I'm cautiously hopeful ( Read more... )

They were going to do a traecheotomy this afternoon. Haven't heard anything. about that. No real change. And unless she miraculously starts getting enough oxygen...One of my siblings told me she thinks the surgeons are only doing that for her parents, so that they will know everything's been tried, and that they've done all they can for her. No change yet in my great niece's condition. I hurt for my daughter, and that has me thinking about grief. I was around 13 when someone I was close to died-my grandfather. There are things I'fd like to tell my daughter, when's she's ready to hear them. That age doesn't make it easier to go through. That grief *will* fade with time. I still miss my ( Read more... )
