Chapter 14 Chapter 15:
“The usual place?”
“Obviously!”
“We’ll go there whi-”
His eyes widened and refocused when he heard the first gunshot. The sound was so loud, and so piercing that it cut through all the voices that’d been plaguing him.
And for a moment, everything was silent.
He looked around, brows furling, what’d he been doing all this time? There were more gunshots outside, and he could hear them clearly. Alarmingly so. Pushing himself up, he stood and ignoring the sudden lightheadedness and unstableness, he looked around again.
My room…
His thought caused him to blink.
It’d been so long since he heard his own thoughts…
Shaking his head, he decided that it wasn’t time to be amazed by his renewed ability to hear things, and kneeled down. Reaching under the mattress he’d been sitting on, he felt around until he came upon the piece of cold metal he was looking for. He pulled it out and examined the gun, it felt foreign in his hands, but he knew it was his.
The yellow ribbon was proof of that.
Checking, he was relieved to find that it was still loaded.
Ryo hoisted himself up again with his gun in hand and headed for the door. Now to find out why there were guns being fired in the house…
He poked his head through the door and saw who he recognized as Massu shooting down the staircase and blinked. There were people returning fire as well. Realizing that he’d need more bullets, he made a detour into Jin’s room. When he opened the door and stepped in, there was a soft “…Jin?”
The second didn’t recognize the voice but it sounded harmless enough. He replied dryly and continued making his way inside. “Guess again.”
The other gasped when he drew close enough, “you’re…Nishikido?”
Blinking, he looked at the figure on the mattress. He was right, it wasn’t a person he recognized, “…and you are?”
The stranger looked confused, “Kamenashi Kazuya…”
“Kamenashi Kazuya…I should know you,” he stated slowly, “but I don’t…not really…” he narrowed his eyes in thought, “oh, you’re probably Jin’s Kamenashi, aren’t you? That one friend he had way before. Yea, he used to whine about you all the time and how you probably hated him after everything, but since you’re here, that means you don’t, right?”
Kame shook his head.
“Good,” he glanced over, “by the way, you’re holding the gun wrong. That’s Jin’s best gun too, here, hold it like this,” he demonstrated with his own gun, and when he was satisfied at the other’s grip, he walked towards the stash of supplies, “now tell me what’s going on.”
----------------------------
After as good of an explanation as he was able to give, Ryo ran a hand through his hair, “is that all you know?”
Kame nodded.
“…so you don’t know anything about the second group.”
The younger man shook his head.
He gave a snort, “well that’s not very useful,” he walked towards the window, “I guess I have to find out myself.”
“The usual place?”
The second looked out into the rain, “the usual place…hm…?”
Suddenly, the door opened, and before Kame realized what was happening, the elder had whipped his gun out and shot the intruders down. The younger man stared at the bodies on the ground, “you killed them!”
Ryo raised a brow, unmoved, “obviously. If I didn’t, we’d both be dead right now. You’re just like Jin: stupid.”
The younger man’s frown remained, “What if it was Jin or something?”
He looked at him, deadpan, “then they would’ve knocked.” He then walked over to the supplies and pulled out a piece of paper and pen. Scribbling a few words on it, he shoved it into Kame’s hands, “give this to Jin when he comes back. Don’t worry, he’ll figure out who it’s from when he reads it-you know, assuming he still remembers how to read.”
Kame blinked, “What? Why not give it to him yourself?” When he saw that the other was heading for the window, he frowned, “oh hell no, where are you going? You should stay here, Jin and Yamashita are going to freak when they find you gone.”
“I’d love to stay but, I have go there while I can still hear,” he muttered, opening the window, “Pi and Jin will be fine,” he began climbing out, into the rain, “oh, and try to stay alive or else Jin will never shut up about it.”
The younger man’s eyes widened when the other disappeared out the window and looked out only to see that the second had somehow managed to land safely after jumping from the second floor and was jogging down the street already.
----------------------------
“Where’d…he go?”
The two thoroughly searched the room.
Jin frowned, “his gun’s missing.”
Pi leaned against the wall, clutching his wound, “did anyone see him?”
He paused, “Kame did…and he said that ‘he had to go there while he could still hear’ to him…what do you think?”
The younger man looked at him with his brows furled, “Go there…? What does that mean?”
“I don’t know…but at least he took his gun, and he still remembers how to fire it.” He headed towards the other, “first thing first, let’s get you real bandages.”
The third slung his arm over Jin’s shoulder with a grunt, allowing himself to be guided out. “Tell me he’s going to be alright.”
Jin didn’t reply.
----------------------------
A smirk.
“Oh? So Akanishi’s in the house, hm? You know what? I change my mind, don’t send Nino, send him there instead, and let him do as he pleases.”
----------------------------
The rain continued pouring despite how the sky grew brighter. They were hanging back around the corner of a building when Ueda looked back at his group. Nakamaru was probably going to be deaf in one ear after this, Tegoshi was pretty beaten up and the brothers looked anxious.
“Okay, listen up. They’re supposed to be in the alleyway down the block, there shouldn’t be too many of them since they’re just the backup but don’t let your guard down. Remember, this area’s pretty much empty so anything can happen.”
Nakamura frowned, “if they’re the backup and they haven’t gone yet, doesn’t that mean…?”
He pursed his lips, “focus. Don’t let your mind wander to Jin, Yamashita or anyone else, he’ll be fine, and so will Jin and the rest of them. If we screw this up, we’ll be the ones that end up dead, not them, got it?”
The four nodded.
Tegoshi wiped his free hand on his pants nervously, “so the sooner we get this over with, the sooner we can go back and help Kei-chan and Massu and them, right?”
“That’s right.”
Yuu smirked, “let’s hurry up then.”
Ueda rolled his eyes, “you guys better not die on me.”
----------------------------
He couldn’t help but fidget when he felt eyes boring into his skull. He was helping the third rewrap his wound since Shige and Koyama were busy tending to Toma. As he unraveled the torn up shirt, the other continued glaring at him. Studying the wound, he frowned, “this is pretty bad; you should go to a hospital and get it disinfected. You’ll probably need stitches as well.”
Pi ignored him, still lost in his thoughts.
There was a long moment of silence before the third looked up, “what did he say?”
Blinking, he raised a brow, “huh?”
“Tell me everything he said.”
Kame looked to the first but the other merely shrugged, “just tell him again.”
Furling his brows, he dug up his memories, “...I basically told you everything he said already. He showed me how to hold a gun, called me stupid and said that you guys would be fine…oh, he was muttering something about the ‘usual place’ though…”
This caused the third to stare at him, “the usual place?”
----------------------------
He was right.
There was only a group of a dozen or so when they moved in and open fired. The opposing group had been surprised, and they were able to take down about half of them before they drew their own guns and shot back.
The shooting continued until he watched the last of them fall. He waited until the last shot was fired before he took a step forward only to have searing pain shoot up his left side. Ueda hissed and looked down, realizing that he’d been shot.
When did that happen…?
Suddenly, there was a soft chuckle.
Ueda froze.
Something was wrong.
He looked down the alley to see Nino slumped against the wall, gun in his hand. But it wasn’t aimed at them, it was at what appeared to be a gas tank. His eyes widened.
“Get down!”
----------------------------
“That bastard Ohno, he probably ran off somewhere while his team died…” Jin gritted as his arms were wrapped up.
Kame glanced up before returning his attention to bandaging the other. “…does that mean it’s over…?”
The elder shook his head, “not yet. Ohno and MatsuJun are still out there, they’re probably the hardest to get. And who knows what kind of crap they’re going to pull…they’re unpredictable…”
“But it shouldn’t last much longer, right?”
He shrugged, “hopefully not.”
The other frowned and pulled the bandages a little harder, causing him to wince, “don’t move. You…you won’t die, right?”
Jin looked over, “I don’t make promises I can’t keep. I’ll try though, but that’s all I can say…” there was a moment of silence before he started tapping his foot impatiently, “damn it, I should be out there looking for Ryo-chan or helping Ueda…or shooting MatsuJun or something!”
Kame sighed, “Are you really that eager to put yourself in danger?”
The first gave an exasperated groan, “it’s not that simple, you wouldn’t understand-”
All his anger and his words were cut off when lips covered his own in a hasty kiss. He continued gaping even after the other had pulled away. Kame was still frowning as he finished tying the bandages up as though nothing had happened, he let out nonchalantly, “I guess ‘I love you’ doesn’t count for much here, but at least know that much before you go rushing towards your death.”
Jin opened his mouth to say something but then Massu ran into the room, “Akanishi-san, Yamashita-kun’s…he’s gone!”
He furled his brows for a moment before letting out an angry snarl, “that idiot! He went after Ryo-chan, didn’t he!?”
Then Koki’s voice could be heard from downstairs, “yo, we’ve got company outside!”
----------------------------
Pi exhaled as he made his way down the street, walking with some difficulty. The rain was slowly soaking through his bandages causing him to look down and frown at his wound.
The usual place…the usual place…it’s got to be there…
After about three blocks, he leaned against a pole and panted slightly.
Damn, this wound’s making it hard to do much…come on Yamashita, only a few more blocks…
Taking a deep breath, he pushed himself up again and continued onwards.
----------------------------
The group had gathered outside to meet the people that decided to show up. Jin frowned, he’d left Kame back inside for his own safety but the kiss and those words continued ringing in his head…
“…at least know that much before you go rushing to your death.”
He shook his head and cleared his mind of the thought. Looking around, his brows furled when he realized that no one was shooting, drawing out his gun, he yelled at the other group, “hey, where’s your leader!? Is it Ohno? Don’t tell me he’s hiding in the back!”
The person that appeared to be the second in command let out a laugh, “it’s not Ohno-sama, but don’t worry, Akanishi. He’s here…somewhere…”
A moment later a strong smell hit him, causing him to spin around.
It was smoke.
The house was on fire.
----------------------------
He was nearing the place now.
Just a bit more…
One step after another, he continued trudging through the rain, until a voice stopped him, “looks like those two did a pretty good job…but as usual, they left the job unfinished.”
Pi looked up, trying to control his breathing, “Ohno…”
The other sighed and raised his gun, “Looks like I’ll have to clean up after them again.”
Bang.
----------------------------
A/N: Haha! Exams are almost over! I had a fever during my exams so that was pretty...eventful. >.> Pi needs a haircut! Anyways! Everything in this fic's going downhill, no? But look! An omake to lighten to mood! Um..other than that, to answer questions from the previous chapter:
Arashi's the baddies since there are a limited number of JE bands and they just seem like the best opponent, and MatsuJun's the boss cause...I guess he makes the biggest impression? XD
My toe's alive! And I believe that my toe made an honourable sacrifice to save the fruits since I'm strictly against wasting food. XP Something I picked up from wherever.
Is Ryo still whooosh? I'll leave you to be the judge of that. Where is he going? You'll find out. =]
I think that's it, just yell at me if I missed anything. But yea...thanks to all you commenters and enjoy!

Chapter 15.1 - Omake:
It’d been nearly a year since he walked away from that place. It was spring and he was walking down the street aimlessly as he always did when he came upon the three. They came running out of a convenience store with large grins on their faces and a paper tray in the hands of the shortest. Their clothes looked dirty but they didn’t seem to notice or care. “Alright, we made it through another year! This year, we get takoyaki!”
The other two cheered.
While watching their faces light up and them jumping around happily over takoyaki, smoke from a nearby vendor blew by creating a very surreal image for him, and he found that only one thought came to his mind:
I see faeries.
Realizing how irrational that was, despite their bubbly state and the mystical smoke, he wondered how anyone could get that excited over takoyaki, especially when they had to split it between three people. It wasn’t until a moment later, after looking down at their worn out shoes, that he realized rather guiltily that they probably didn’t have the money to buy more.
The shortest one looked over, noticing his stare, he snapped, “Hey ugly, what are you looking at!?”
His brows furled.
What kind of attitude was that!?
Neither of the other two appeared fazed though. One of them merely sighed and shook his head, “Ryo-chan’s tongue is still as sharp as ever…”
The other nodded and ate his takoyaki, “Yea…what a shame…”
He could feel his anger building up, “who are you calling ugly, you dwarf!?”
One of the others gasped, “He’s standing up against Ryo-chan!”
And this ‘Ryo-chan’ boy clearly couldn’t let it slide because he retorted immediately, “obviously I was calling you ugly!”
“Yea well…”
Their argument went on and on until the two decided to intervene…by applauding him. “That’s amazing, I’ve never seen anyone last this long against Ryo-chan. Not bad, not bad. You’ve got guts, I like you.”
“Shut up Bakanishi!”
‘Bakanishi’ replied sarcastically, “What are you going to do? Bite me?”
“Stop it Jin, you know he will.”
“Oh yea, he bit you last time, didn’t he? But Pi, you have to admit though, that was pretty funny.”
“It wasn’t funny! His teeth are sharp!”
Then there was a sudden change of topic, “I want more takoyaki…”
“Me too…”
“Yea, same here.”
He blinked, “why don’t you just get more than?”
‘Ryo-chan’ scoffed, “you’re not a piece of trash, you wouldn’t understand.”
He raised a brow, “was that supposed to be a metaphor?”
‘Pi’ laughed, “That’s so weird, he’s analyzing your insults instead of taking offense to them, Ryo-chan.”
The shorter boy shrugged, “who cares? What were you staring at anyways?”
Without thinking, he blurted out, “faeries.”
There was a moment of silence before the three burst into laughter, “faeries!?”
While they were laughing, he couldn’t help but wonder why he gave such a ridiculous response, but then he shrugged, deciding that they were very much like faeries with their lighthearted approach to life and their sparkling character. “I see faeries.”
‘Bakanishi’ wiped a tear from his eye, “you’re an interesting one aren’t you, faerie boy? What’s your name?”
“Ueda Tatsuya.”
‘Pi’ was still smiling while he asked, “what are you doing, standing around a place like this and talking to trash like us, anyways? You’re not like us.”
‘Ryo-chan’ nodded in agreement, “Yea, shouldn’t you go home or something?”
There was no condescending tone or malice in their voices, so he answered indifferently, “It’s not like I have anywhere to go back to.”
This caused the three to pause before the shortest, and who he presumed to be the youngest, spoke up again, “whatever, we’re wasting our time here with the ugly faerie boy. Let’s get going.”
He watched as the boy turned around and started walking away. And he was about to turn around as well when he realized that ‘Pi’ and ‘Bakanishi’ were still standing there, looking at him. “It wasn’t really clear, but that’s actually Ryo-chan’s way of inviting you to come with us. So what do you say, faerie boy?”
Looking at the two and the third who had stopped walking and was waiting for his reply, he gave a scoff and walked towards them with his arms crossed, “let’s get this straight. It’s not like I want to come, but clearly, someone has to teach the dwarf some manners, assuming he won’t get stepped on any time soon.”
The said ‘dwarf’ looked back and let out a snarl, “Look who’s talking! At least my face doesn’t scare people away!”
He narrowed his eyes, “Yea well at least…”
