Title: Wilds of My Heart
Pairings: Akame, Ryopi, others
Rating: NC-17 (for violence, abuse, language, etc.)
Summary: 10 years ago, he'd wanted to save him. But now, after having been thrust into a new life, who'll be saving who?
Prologue:
He hadn’t eaten for days. He would’ve died of thirst already had he not snuck sips of water from the tap while he washed the dishes. She was cruel and treated him inhumanly. He couldn’t wait for Monday, for school. During schooldays, she was just a little kinder to him, maybe it was just an effort to keep the abuse hidden.
He didn’t care; he just took what he could.
Anyways, at school, he had a secret, one he kept from her oh so skillfully. He had a friend, one he confided in, one who gave him half his lunches, one who smiled kindly at him, immune to the others’ jeers and taunts.
The one person that mattered to him.
All the kids at school either feared him or hated him, he was basically unapproachable and he liked it that way. Glaring at anyone who dared to venture near him, and towering over anyone who dared to mock him in his presence, it kept him safe from harm, the small sense of security he rarely felt. Of course, there were exceptions to everything.
He still remembered the conversation he’d overheard previously.
-------------------------
“Ne, why you are so nice to someone like him?”
“Eh? What do you mean? What’s wrong with him?”
“I promise I won’t tell anyone else, is it out of pity? He’s just a big jerk!”
A gentle, chiding reply, “of course it’s not out of pity. You just don’t know him well enough.”
-------------------------
“Here,” the other said with a happy smile on his face as he opened his lunch box and offered it to the other, “I made an extra big lunch today!”
He wordlessly accepted the food.
This was his precious secret, the one that kept him sane.
“I’ll get you out of there…” he looked over from the food and blinked at the other, who had a serious look on his face, “someday, I’ll get you out of there, I promise. Then you won’t have to put up with this anymore.”
He swallowed the food and muttered, “Yea…” Though he wouldn’t admit it, it made his heart feel just a little warmer, hearing those words.
At least one person in the world cared.
-------------------------
But nothing good lasts forever. One day, she drove by and dragged him away in the middle of the day. She saw him and his secret, silent rage evident in her eyes. Grabbing him by the wrist, she dragged him into the car and drove off.
“So who was that,” she sneered.
Desperately to protect his secret, he spoke without thinking, “Who?”
That earned him a hard slap on the head, causing him to hit the window with a thud, and let out an angry shout, “don’t play dumb with me! That boy you were with!”
Learning to hold back his cries, he merely sat there, staring at his feet, “no one.”
She didn’t buy a single word he said, he was well aware of that, but it was done and he couldn’t do anything but hope for the best.
-------------------------
The next day, she came around again, after school this time. He stared blankly at her, she looked alarmingly pleasant. It was something he was no longer used to. She looked out the window with a smile, “so where’s your little friend?”
He looked around in hopes of the other being nowhere in sight, but unfortunately, the other was spotted heading towards the gate, completely oblivious to the two of them. He bit the inside of his cheek and looked back over to her, silently begging her to just leave.
Instead, she smiled triumphantly, “call him over.”
When he didn’t, she looked annoyed and pulled him into the car before driving over next to his secret. Calling out in a happy voice, one he used to hear on the daily bases, not so often now. She invited him to get into the car so the two of them could ‘hang out’ at their house.
He mentally pleaded the other not to, but after a long pause, determination flared in the other’s eyes as he stepped in wordlessly. Still smiling, she turned the car and drove back to their house.
-------------------------
“Go make tea” was the command. Too afraid of the consequence with his only friend in the house, he rushed off to appease her demand. Maybe if he remained obedient, she wouldn’t do anything.
But once more, his wishes were carelessly shoved aside and trampled on.
When he returned, he could hear her yelling at the other, “You think you’re doing a heroic deed here!? Taking pity on an ‘it’ like that!? Think again! You know what he does? He washes my dishes and cleans my floors! He eats garbage and sleeps in the garage!”
He felt the tray slip out of his hands, everything clattering onto the floor, the other looked over at him with fearful eyes. His face was burning in shame, as she looked over with a smirk, “here’s it now.”
His mind was still too fazed to comprehend what the other said next but it enraged her, causing her to shove him, pressing the back of his shoulder into one of the many sharp decorations they had in the house. She didn’t notice and continued yelling, hitting, terrifying the other further.
The next thing he knew, she had sent his well kept secret running out of the house, blood trailing down his arm. She crossed her arms and looked down at him, sneering, “Better think twice before trying something like that again.” As she went for the alcohol cabinet, she turned around and looked at the spilt tea and blood with a frown, “clean this mess up.”
That was the last time he saw his only friend.
-------------------------
That was ten years ago.
-------------------------
He woke up with a groan, he hated that dream. Whenever he woke up from it, he could feel himself burn with shame at the sight of her triumphant smirk, his fearful eyes. Angrily, he grabbed the closest thing to him, which was a cup, and hurled it at the wall, shattering it into a million pieces.
