I passed Max 300 again today, again with a crappy grade - but, for the first time, I had a witness. My mother drove up here from Swainsboro and is staying overnight with me so she can leave with a tour in the morning. She was watching during my workout, and watched me survive to the end of M300. Note to self: NyQuil is great for helping you get to sleep when you have a cold. I must have gone to sleep six times last night. If it let me stay asleep, that would be nice too.

Xanax makes for sloppy DDRing. My footwork was not so great, I fell a bit short most times. Yet I managed to get a new AAA and beat my high score on SAGA, which is a viciously step-jumpy beast. I have no idea how I managed that.

It also gives me drymouth. I wonder how long it takes this stuff to wear off.

You remember Horatio? The DDR video about pirate potatoes I posted a few days ago. Its Heavy steps are positively frightening. It's a 15-footer, which puts it right alongside MAX 300 on DDR X's revised difficulty scale. Well, guess what?

The first song in DDR X is 30 Lives. At one point during the song you hear "Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Select, Start." (You can close your eyes during that part of the song and not miss an arrow.) If you either grinned or groaned while reading this, congrats, you're a video game nerd.

I recently found out that if you run the SLUS file in PS2 games through a hex editor you can find interesting things. For example, in DDR games you can find a master song list. So I checked out the SLUS file in DDR X, and I found a bunch of old and new songs I recognized. But then there are some songs that don't belong there, yet have a common ( Read more... )

I came home, ate a sammitch, and played DDRX for three hours. That's not as crazy as it sounds; when I get a new DDR mix I go through the Beginner and Light levels of all the songs, tightening my timing and getting acquainted with the music before I move on to the harder steps.
