I got my first spinning wheel Freya on Friday 16th April 2010 so its been a whole year for me learning how to handspin yarns at home, I upgraded to a second wheel Julius in August 2010. This video has been made by my son Leo to celebrate my new hobby and all the yarns I've spun during the last twelve months.

This week has been a rollercoaster of things some of which have made me feel particularly good inside.
Monday, Angelica and I managed to get all the Falkland, Silk and Mohair fibres we handpainted last week hanging up to dry. It took four days for the Falkland and the other two are still drying. The heater blew up and only today my husband has fixed ( Read more... )

Lots of things have happened in the last few days, so here is a round up in as short a version as I can manage :
Spinning :
After finishing my beautiful Smoke & Mirrors Yarn I waited two days then moved on to spinning Imogen's first attempts at carding. Remember these little fluffy mini batts or if rolled up like cigars they would be rolags?

Yesterday, Friday, I stayed in bed most of the day, got up to have a shower which Angelica helped me with by washing my hair then Lionel and her took me out to the cinema to watch The Black Swan which I absolutely loved every part of.

Well our Millennium Princess turned 11 years old yesterday on the 1/1/11, what a brilliant date to turn 11 on hey. Unfortunately Imogen has been really ill and in bed for the past two days. She did get up to blow out candles on her cake at least, I insisted she do that at least in case it was bad luck or something not to blow the birthday cake ( Read more... )

Last Wednesday Ivan came down with a terrible bug which caused him to sleep all day long, in and out of a mildish fever, swollen throat and generally feeling weak. Following Ivan two days later was Angelica and Imogen, same thing, both girls didnt even get up that day until late in the evening when I insisted they came down and tried to eat the dal ( Read more... )

So today I turned 40 years old and today and yesterday have been the best two days I could ever have dreamed of, just totally brilliant on every level imaginable.
Will do a separate post about the new wheel and trip yesterday after this one.

Today the boys went back to college so the kids and I spent a quiet day together. Angelica is not feeling well at all, it was Imogen last night, my head was banging too from around 4am onwards, not very pleasant.
We watched 2012 together this afternoon, I quite liked the film although it was a bit weak in places, the story was there and it was nice ( Read more... )
