Last Wednesday Ivan came down with a terrible bug which caused him to sleep all day long, in and out of a mildish fever, swollen throat and generally feeling weak. Following Ivan two days later was Angelica and Imogen, same thing, both girls didnt even get up that day until late in the evening when I insisted they came down and tried to eat the dal I made with moong dal yellow lentils which I was so relieved to see, they both loved it.
Over the weekend I progressed from having a mild temperature which went up in scale to leaving me in a heap as a shivering wreck. Same as last time I had a bug like this last month I had a rather heavy blood loss as well so felt particularly weak, by yesterday my throat was very swollen and I couldnt talk.
Thankfully I feel a bit brighter today, symptoms are being kept down with paracetamols and seudofed capsules which are pretty good for drying everything up. I am going to go cook shortly, my husband has just left with Imogen and Harvey to collect the boys from college this afternoon, I wanted to share something first.
Yesterday whilst I was pretty out of it, Angelica my beautiful 14 year old daughter, dyed over an entire kilo of fibre for the shop. I was so weak yesterday evening she cooked dinner for all eight of us as well and had all the dye pots steadily going at the same time. Totally brilliant, I know how hard that is with the kids rushing in and out of the kitchen but she managed everything like a true professional, I am dead impressed with her skills at multi tasking.
This morning she got up early, completely steam set all ten fibres, cooled and washed them and now they are all hanging up in the bathroom dripping over the bath.
I feel so blessed with her in my life, she is so beautiful and highly talented, more importantly Angelica just 'gets' everything, her understanding is way beyond her years.
My first secret santa parcel arrived today, it wasnt wrapped in wrapping paper so I know its a fibre of some sort, I have put it under the tree to save for Christmas which will be a lovely surprise.
Angelica has died me 430g of merino as my present, that is drying upstairs too so I am not allowed to look in the bathroom until she gets it out in the morning to wrap.
Two ladies from the ravelry UK Random Acts of Kindness Group have sent presents for the kids so they are all under the tree too, today Harvey was dancing about cuddling one when we opened the outer packaging and found the individually wrapped goodies inside. He was so cute jumping and dancing in the living room cuddling his little parcel. So kind of these ladies to send something, we normally dont have anything under our tree until Christmas Eve after Santa has visited so its nice for the kids I think to see things piling up under there now.
Cant believe its only next Saturday, I love Christmas, its been so much fun gathering everything and I can not wait to see the kids faces when they open their presents next week. Its definitely going to be a fun day I think.
I am going to cook chicken curry made from chicken breasts and potatoes, tomato pilau rice and dal today, everything is ready for me in the kitchen I just need to finish my cuppa first.
Knitting is going brilliantly, finished both arms, front and back of my jumper now, just knitting a small piece to slot into the bottom of the back to give it a bit more length so it covers my bottom and its finished. Cant wait to wear it.
Now I am off to the kitchen, its pouring with rain at the moment, still a tiny bit of snow left in the front garden but majority of it has all gone from outside now but the weather reports state more is on the way tomorrow or Thursday. At least its the last week of college this week so if it does snow there will be no need to drive far away in it.
