Cloth shower curtains? So how does it work? I'm assuming you don't use a liner with it, so do you find that water drips down onto the bathroom floor?

we just have a single layer and it works fine for keeping water in the shower. No liner needed. Just make sure the bottom of it is inside the tub when you shower

doesn't it get mildew-y from being wet in the shower and then taking so long to dry?

I've got a cloth curtain, and it really doesn't take that much time to dry at all. Just don't leave it all bunched up when you get out! Also you can always take it down and stick it in the washing machine.

Same here. Plastic is such a bummer- It has done a lot for us, but we are paying a pretty hefty price now, from things like this to all the plastic in the ocean. :(

when i got pregnant, I was reading to hubby out of the Organic Pregnancy book I bought and it mentioned replacing the plastic shower curtain due to the things you cite above. Soon after, next thing I knew, he was sewing me a new cloth shower curtain from our fabric scraps. It's so pretty!

Another reason I love the glass doors on my shower and tub.

Another PVC thing to be cautious with: yoga mats
I have found rubber yoga mats at my natural market... and I got this hand-woven one off of a website. The only drawback to that one is it can get a little slippery on hardwood floors, and also with your hands, so you have to use more muscle to hold yourself up (but that bit, I suppose, isn't a drawback).
