Same person, new name
T'B and I spent the weekend at FenCon with controuble (Trouble/Kerry), troubles_son, and Trouble's brother. It was determined that instead of having "double k" on my nametag that I should be known as the Source of all Trouble. So, I now have a new LJ page as sourceoftrouble (shortened for space consideration) as well as a new email address.

galavanting again
We did go up to the farm, and found water in the gauge on the fence, but no sign of excess wind - not even a lot of leaves on the ground.
Had a good time at the antique tractor show. Didn't stay super long as it was warmer than we care for.

on the drier side
We were on the drier side of Ike when it came through northern Texas. We got some rain and wind, but no worse than during a thunderstorm. Even the pecan trees kept all their branches. The maps looked as if the farm got about the same thing. We'll find out when we get back up there.

made it to the bank
We got the house sited and the soil borings done last Friday, as scheduled. Progress, even if small, is welcome after all the setbacks.
The 'pretty copy' of the loan paperwork and a copy of the floorplan and elevations went to the bank this afternoon. She repeated that she saw no reason for there to be issues with either the construction loan or ( Read more... ) -
car fixed this time
The car appears to be really fixed this time around. When we took it in the mechanic said he knew *exactly* what had happened. Seems he took a calculated risk - checked it with vacuum to be sure it worked - and it didn't *stay* working. No additional charges to us even though they had to refill the system with refrigerant. Nice to have cold air ( Read more... ) -
slide fixed, car not so much
T'B got the slide fixed on the camper, after much hard work. Yeah!
We took the little car in for the a/c issue. Not what we thought it was, and ended up having to get a new compressor. Got it back from the shop, and had wonderful cool air. Drove it into town and back to the farm and then loaded up to head back to the house. We didn't even get ( Read more... ) -

Finally
We finally got the replacement for the laptop we use in the camper. They decided the original dead one was to stay that way. The primary problem was the new one doesn't have a PCMCIA slot, and we used ours for the air card to get access to the outside world. We discovered we could get a new one - with a two year contract - with a rebate for the ( Read more... ) -
good news
We just got a phone call from the repair place for the camper - and it's ready to be picked up! I'm not ready to leave, however, so will fetch it first thing tomorrow and take it up to the farm. Probably have to mow before we can park it, but that won't take long.
Also got reservations made for all of our small trips for the rest of the year. Now ( Read more... )
