The plumbing in town was far more of an event than we had bargained for.  We knew we had a leak, as there was water in the yard, and it wasn't raining.  We turned the water off at the curb, so it could dry out under the house before the plumber could even go find the problem.

I used the cold (below freezing) weather we're having here to my advantage.  Yesterday I loaded a couple totes with the contents of my big freezer and set them on the back patio.  Defrosted and cleaned interior of freezer.  Left totes out all night, while freezer got back to temp.  Just finished reloading the freezer.  This is so much easier than ( Read more... )

Looking over the log book kept by the computer support staff at my office, I noticed several entries stating the problem was PICNIC.  I asked one of the technicians what PICNIC meant. 
He laughed as he told me it meant

We had company (well, family) last Thursday up at the farm.  My son and his daughter spent the day with us.  She's getting to be quite the young lady!  She currently lives in TN so we don't see her very often.  It was nice to have them!

Yippee!  We have snow! ...and cold enough that we'll still have it in the morning for a White Christmas.  That doesn't happen very often at this end of the world.

We survived the Open House to show off the shell we completed.  That's the end of Chapter 1 of the new house. The week following we went to a dinner party given by the general contractor, had an early supper with a former coworker, and a long lunch with a lady friend.  The rest won't happen until next year.
