The Beast/fairytale lore (B&tB, a little of this story, a little of that, most of it NOT Disney)/bar

If it should happen that you look up, and chance to see the very large animal that comes down the stairs, standing stiffly upon his hind legs (going down stairs always gave him just a touch of trouble. Not that he would admit it) and wearing a very finely tailored suit, with particular attention to the waistcoat, do not be alarmed. He may be ugly, ( Read more... )

DG catches a glimpse of the rather large animal with even larger teeth in the corner, and to her surprise, he's eating cookies.

It's certainly not something one sees every day.

She's debating over whether or not to get closer, but for now, she'll just observe.

If the cookies don't get you, try this on for size: an oversized paw, which somehow manages to be shaped just so as to actually be capable of manual usage, has picked up a teacup (rather dainty, fine china) and he is sipping from it.

He's also wearing really expensive clothing from a very very very long time ago. At least, compared to her time.

She's never seen anything like this in her entire life. Granted, being from Kansas, she hasn't seen very many things in her life.

So forgive her for staring.

Oh, it's perfectly alright. Staring is perhaps the least rude thing that someone could do to the Beast.

He does notice, eventually. Those odd animal senses come in handy occasionally.

A polite nod goes her way.

O_O

The little boy staring at him only looks shocked, but on the inside something in his brain is doing flips.

There is a giant walking beast thing ordering cookies from the bar. Whut.

Beast does catch sight of the little boy with the odd-shaped head (a certain sport of late 20th century United States of America pops into mind) and merely holds up the plate of cookies as he lowers himself into the chair.

Perhaps he would like some, mmm?

...Yes, he would like some very much.

He sidles close enough to snag one from the plate and then sits on a nearby chair.

"Thanks, mister!"

"You are quite welcome, little sir."

Grandmother, what a harsh voice you have. Have you been eating nails and consorting with the Devil lately?

But it's only the sound of it. Words through a voicebox not made for speaking, around lips and teeth not made for other than killing or eating. The actual nuance of the words is very soft and polite.
