Reading fanfic is a decent excuse for avoiding writing it, I think. At least when the fanfic is thought-provoking, sharply-characterised and just plain good.

Thanks to this post, I was reminded of how awesome this song is! It's from one of the Asterix movies, based on the story in which they go to Egypt. The bad guys are planning to make a poisonous cake for Cleopatra and pretend it's from the Gauls, so that she'll feed Asterix & co. to her crocodiles:

2) Irisbleufic wrote me a Chanson de Roland drabble which is absolutely gorgeous -- her writing always is. (LJ won't let me link to her username, for some reason.) I don't squee nearly as much about her stories as I ought to, but I'll do my best to rectify that in the future. <3
