Five golden fics

A bit late, perhaps, but Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate! <3

I've received some wonderful exchange stories lately:

Because It Is My Heart
(HP; Petunia/Alice) by magnetic_pole : written for woldy's informal f/f exchange, this is a touching, intelligent take on Petunia's story and her relationship with the magical world. Despite the sadness, I actually felt comforted and optimistic after reading it. Thanks again, Maggie!

The Boy With the Thorn in His Side (HP; Severus/Peter with unrequited Peter/James and Severus/James) tells the story of these unhappy, longing boys, and does it in a sparse, precise writing which I love. (Also, The Smiths references = <3)

For Yuletide, I requested fic based upon Jules Verne's novel Around the World in Eighty Days, and I got no less than two lovely stories: But Little Conversation and Showing What Happened Aboard The Train From Omaha To Chicago, both of them showing a great grasp of characterisation and style.*hugs stories*

Since I seem to have incredible luck this Christmas, I also got a hilarious Keeping Up Appearances fic for Yuletide. Hyacinth Bucket: Power Walking Extraordinaire shows us what happens when Hyacinth decides to take up "the latest form of exercise". *g* I can just picture her.
And since hoggywartyxmas and rarepair_shorts have begun posting, too, I suspect another rec post might be coming up soon... Stay tuned!

recs, yuletide
