14 Taemin smiled to the waiter after he sat his plate in front of him on the table, declining anything else he wanted. Sayu sipped at her tea, quiet until he left and the curtain was drawn once again. When they were alone again, she quickly spoke, “Sorry if I’m asking weird questions, but I am flying a bit blind right now. I’m out of the loop, so to speak.”
“Why is that? You’re usually so on top of things, but it’s nice to be able to tell you news for once though.” He smiled happily as he bit into his sandwich, pieces of lettuce falling out of it. Taemin quickly picked them off the plate and ate them.
Sayu sighed and pulled her feet up on the bench, sitting sideways with her back to the wall. She stared at the curtain as she said, “I keep everything I know on my laptop and someone took it from me. I’ll get it back though, it’s just… makes me feel naked not having it.” She glanced over at him and laughed, “Silly right? Well now, that you’ve caught me up, I wonder if you can help me with something. It’s kind of a personal problem.”
Taemin stopped in mid-crunch of his sandwich, “Um, sure. I don’t know if I can help you though.”
She looked to him, resting her head on her knees. “I’m sure you can. So I guess my question is, what do you know about Jessica and Jonghyun’s relationship?”
Taemin made a disgusted face, “First of all, why, second, what’s so personal about that.”
“I don’t know yet, I just think it’s somehow important to the project I’m working on.”
“How is it personal if it’s a project for your blog?”
Sayu laughed, “You’re picking up on my interviewing techniques. It’s personal because Jonghyun is the one with my laptop.”
Taemin stared at her, his face set and he put down his sandwich like he lost his appetite. “I told you to stop meeting with that bastard.”
Sayu shrugged, “He gives away a lot of information, plus he’s kind of funny.”
“Do you have a crush on him or something?” He said confused, looking down at his sandwich like it was suddenly a shoe.
“What? No!” She looked at him, offended, turning back towards him and putting her feet back under the table. “I just mean it’s not like I can have friends doing what I do so it’s like… you and him are the only ones I can really talk to.”
“What about Taeil? He said he ‘kind of likes you enough.’” He made air quotes for her.
She smiled, “Taeil is not, well, he’s not really very good at acting human. Do you get what I mean?”
“And that other vampire is?”
“Yes, he is. He acts very human some of the time, he’s very interesting.” She noticed the look he was giving her, “I’m sorry, I know you don’t want to hear about him. But do you know the answer to my question?”
Taemin picked up his sandwich again, “Nope.” He lied.
