Sayu stared at her reflection in the mirror, inspecting. She only had those same clothes from her… captivity. They were clean now, at least. There was a scar on her arm, covered by her long-sleeves, the place where Jonghyun’s fangs scraped across her. She imagined what she looked like then, judging from his face when he understood what just happened, the realization of a previous threat to her life when they first met. Why was he even there…

No don’t think about it. It’s irrelevant. Breathe in, breathe out. At least you have this. For now. No, stop it. She leaned on the sink and looked down into the basin. It was clean, pristine, water droplets hung out on the sides, a small pool gathered around the drain. Sayu looked back into the mirror. This won’t do.

She came out of the bathroom, it was light out so Jonghyun was sleeping and she tried not to wake him. Money, food, clothes. Sure she could get back before dark, Sayu left the hotel room after leaving a note just in case.

“Jonghyun, I went out to get supplies and things. I will text your phone once I buy one, so call me when you get up. I should be back before dark if I know what’s good for me. XD Sayu/IU.”

She drew a smiley but her face was blank.

Her blog brought in enough profit she worked with her agency just for the extra contacts and editors. Her captors had thought well enough to take her stuff with them, she wondered how much was left if they were able to get access to her accounts. Sayu was quite well-off before… all this. Maybe she would have to start over. Jonghyun had shoved a plastic bag in her chest before they left that building, it held her belongings that were valuable and the rest had been tossed.

She stepped out of the hotel, squinting. It had been a couple weeks since she had really seen sunlight and it was amazing how much she missed it. First stop, ATM. Sayu punched in her numbers and checked the balance, not entirely empty, but would need some serious recovery time. Those guys probably didn’t figure out how to get cash out of it or she’d be completely broke. Jonghyun had a few contacts of his own and was able to track them this way; at least it was pretty fortunate those guys weren’t very careful.

Taking out the cash she needed, she went into the nearest electronics store and bought the cell phone. She was texting Jonghyun the number when someone approached her, tapping her shoulder.

“Sayu?” She turned and froze at the voice. She really didn’t want anyone she knew around her right now, and here was a bonded contact she knew, looking worried. “Is it you? I’ve been trying to call. Did you lose your phone?”

“Yes, that is exactly what happened,” she said, pressing the send button, mid-message.”What did you want to tell me?” Sayu smiled, her polite way spreading a smile to her contact. Hopefully this would be short.
