"Gracious," says Jack, with a blink or two, from where he's seated nearby.

"Hello. Are you eating just mushrooms?"

Pippin stops chewing, looks around to see if anyone else is eating mushrooms, and, seeing no one, says sagely, "Of course." Smile!

"I have never had just-mushrooms." It turns into one word. "I have had mushrooms in things, but usually cooked. Is that a custom where you are from?"

"Yes," says Pippin, finally swallowing. "A very fine one, if I do say so myself!"

A weird-looking girl hops on a stool nearby. "Soda, please." Can of died carbonated drink appears, with a straw. With a breakfast like that, no surprise she looks so thin...

She looks -- interesting, yes. Pippin has met a girl with blue hair, though, and a woman who painted herself green, so he only stares at her a moment or two.

No, he is more interested in whatever it is that she is drinking.

After a moment, never shy, he asks, "What's that?"

Ravin's brow rises at the small guy. Deja vù... "Diet soda. Fizzy water with coloring and somehting that tastes like sugar but is not."

In honor of the cousin who makes a brief cameo in The Fellowship of the Ring, a certain kitsune has come to investigate.

And maybe make off with a 'shroom or two.

In any case, there's a red fox leaping up on the stool next to Pippin. Doesn't he look positively starved?

Pippin starts to see a fox out in broad daylight, much less leaping atop a stool inside a bar.

"I don't think you're supposed to be inside," he tells it cautiously.

The fox's ears twitch indignantly. Who says he can't be inside?

Then he goes back to the unashamed begging. You've got a lot of shrooms there, hobbit. Can't you spare one for this poor, starving creature?

There are enough dogs in the Smials that he recognizes perfectly well what the fox is doing. He frowns, surreptitiously pulling the plate closer. "Do foxes eat mushrooms?"
