This was the first year Maeve had to work over Christmas, so the night before shift seemed like a hood compromise considering she had her daughter to think of. I can't believe that happened... I can't believe any of this is happening. Two good people dead, and so close together... I feel sick.

It was the day after the article in the Prophet, and as paranoid as Maeve could have let herself become about what happened in Hogsmeade, she was trying to just see it as a horrible one off event. Nothing like a tragedy to put things in perspective. Lily gave me such strange looks when I asked for a hug, but these things just make you want to tell everyone what they mean to you, doesn't it?
