Lav/Maeve - The morning after.

Nov 25, 2013 08:45

Sitting at her bedside, Maeve resisted the urge to reread Lavender's notes. Poisoned. She could have sworn her heart stopped the second she heard it was her ex-friend the hospital was buzzing about throughout her night shift, and it was her ex-friend in that moment, the bad history forgotten as she just worried about her, remembering the friend ( Read more... )

Lavender had a rough night, that was clear. After the fever had broke she had fought chills and nightmares all night. The potions did little for her subconscious. The moment of clarity the night before was fleeting. Lavender was instantly pulled under into a hellish sleep, tossing and turning while her mind ran from shadows and images of demons. She cried and screamed, pulling at her hair at times or clutching at the burning in her stomach until her limbs were once again too tired to pick up ( ... )

Maeve startled for a second as Lavender woke, but quickly settled into her healer face, calm, reassuring, with a tone to match. "It's ok Lavender, you're ok.... just give yourself a second, have some water." Give Maeve a second to work out what the hell to say to her more like it.

Grabbing some water, she set the cup on the table for a moment, sitting the bed up to save Lavender trying to just sit herself up and overstress her body. "What do you remember about last night?"

Lavender took the water, feeling the soreness in her arms instantly. Even the cup felt heavy and unbearable in her hands.

"Not a lot," she said, bringing the water to her lips. It felt cool and soothing as it ran down her cracked throat. Pieces started to come together again.

"I remember screaming and bright lights. I remember...I remember feeling like I was set on fire."

Great, soooo nothing specific. Of course Maeve would have to explain this. Well.... to a point. Lavender had too much happen and was still fragile, she wasn't going to throw it all at her.

"Someone poisoned you. It was pretty bad, they think it was something muggle, but luckily Marlow moved quickly and got you here, and the healers were able to stop the worst of it." She started, watching for how Lavender took it. "I think they are still trying to work out exactly what it was, but that's where the feeling of being on fire comes from. It was trying to burn you from the inside out." Too much?
