This was the first year Maeve had to work over Christmas, so the night before shift seemed like a hood compromise considering she had her daughter to think of. Lily could spend the night and the morning with Roger, Maeve could have a couple of hours sleep and preparation and then pick her up. It was perfect ( Read more... )

Christmas had been going well. Normally, Roger and Lily spent the night at his place. Being Christmas and all, Roger had decided to stay at his mother's house instead. Lily had loved it, spending her night excitedly chattering with Kirsten and painting nails with the one gift she'd been allowed to open before morning. She hadn't fallen asleep until ridiculously late, hadn't slept long, and had been going all morning.

Roger was exhausted, but in high spirits. His reflexes weren't that quick though, but at least there were three other people to chase Lily down instead - Roger really was terrified of her opening to door to a kidnapper or something. Whatever, he was allowed to be irrationally worried about his kid.

"Happy christmas!" She grinned as she returned the hug. It was hard to not be happy when faced with Kiki, never mind Lily as well.

Picking Lils up, she kissed hugged her tight. "And happy christmas to you! Sounds like you had a perfect morning!" It was the perfect greeting as Maeve listened to her daughter's excited babble and checked out her nail painting. "You and Kiki should go into business! Everyone would want you making them look amazing! Do you think you guys could make my nails amazing sometime?"

"We could do it now! Aunt Kiki, can we do it now?" Lily pleaded with her eyes to the other blonde.

Kirsten laughed, wrinkling up her nose and reaching out to tap Lily's. "If your mum has the time. Otherwise, any time you want! You have all the fun glitters now and everything."

Lily laughed, arms still wrapped tight around her mother's neck. "Can we now? Mum, I got the prettiest colors! And we'll do Christmas patterns and everything!"

A little longer wouldn't make that much difference, but it wasn't her place to invite herself into the house. "That's up to your Nan and your dad! How much chaos have you caused so far? They might be ready for a break from you!" She joked, tickling Lily and looking out for one or the other to come along.
