Ah, so, summer is coming to a close. I have one more day of vegetation surveys left, and otherwise all I have to do is data entry and analysis. I am living at the cottage by myself, which is quite nice. I only wish that my computer screen would show up in the sun, and that I could do my work outside. Recently (i.e. since the beginning of May), we've been having troubles with our field vehicle. A beauty of a vehicle, the GMC safari. Because it's a government vehicle, I can only take it to be repaired at places that accept this type of gas card that the provincial government uses. The only place within 150 km of here that does is Canadian Tire. ( Read more... )

I took this photo today, and once again, felt that my photography was just so good that it had to be shared. We went to band the young of this nest, and as we walked up, I saw that the female was on the nest. This morning we awoke to treacherous storms. One thing about working with birds, is that you cannot work in the rain. The birds aren't active, you can't flush them from their nests because then their eggs or babies will get cold and wet, and it seems like about 90% of the equipment we use isn't waterproof.
