Chap-12 6:50 A.M.- Sho woke up, yawning as he sat up to turn off the alarm. Giving his sleeping boyfriend a soft peck on the forehead, Sho swung his legs to the side of the bed and stretched his arms up. He proceeded to sit there, letting the events that happened the night before play in his mind.
The Night Before
Sho let out a groan as he saw a hand appear underneath the bed, clutching the bottom of the bedsheet as it pulled the sheet up. Jun and Ohno's smiling faces appeared.
"Found you, Sho-kun." Sho scowled at the irritating smirk on Jun's face.
"Papa! Fwown you!" Ohno giggled, clapping his hands happily. Sho sighed as he crawled from the bed, noticing that Aiba was also coming out from the closet that he had hid in.
"Waah! That was a close one!" Aiba let out a relieved sigh, looking at them all with wide eyes.
"How did you guys find me?" Sho moaned, closing his eyes. He was sure that Aiba would be the one watching Ohno tomorrow.
Jun pointed to Ohno as the baby jumped energetically in his arms. "See papa's feet!" Ohno chirped up, and Sho's jaw dropped at that.
"Seriously?!" Sho squeaked, closing his eyes as he let another groan escape his lips. He must have accidentally let his feet stick out of the bed. "But how did you know those feet were mine?"
"Who else would wear socks like that?" Jun scoffed, looking at Sho's feet.
Sho frowned as he looked down at his socks. They were the types of socks where each toe were showing and they were colored neon green with little pictures of chibi onigiri on them. "They were a gift." Sho insisted, his face blushing.
"Aw, I think they're very cute Sho-chan!" Aiba comforted him, patting him on the arm.
"Anyway, Nino! You can come out now! Sho is watching Satoshi tomorrow!" Jun called out as he and Ohno exited the room, the others following behind.
When they got to the living room, they were all surprised when the front door opened and Nino walked in, a DS in his hand. Jun scrunched his eyebrows in confusion. "What were you doing outside?"
Nino held us his DS. "Playing Mario Kart."
Sho frowned. "Were you out there the entire time?"
At Nino's nod, Aiba whined. "That's not fair! You can't hide outside- that's cheating!"
Nino crossed his arms and stuck his tongue out at Aiba. "No one said that we HAD to hide in this house only. So it's completely fair." Turning to Sho, Nino gave him his signature bratty smirk with a hint of a warning in it. "So you're the one who's watching Satoshi tomorrow? Good luck..."
Present Time
Sho sighed as he went to the bathroom, quickly refiguring the schedule he had planned for the day to include Ohno as well.
7:17 A.M.- After relieving himself, brushing his teeth and showering, Sho came into the room with a towel on his hips and went to get dressed.
Grabbing his beige jacket in hand, Sho left the room and went to the guest room to where Ohno, Nino and Jun were sleeping at.
7:21 A.M.- "So this is where you guys were." Sho said as he walked into the kitchen. Jun and Ohno were up and dressed, sitting at the kitchen table as Jun fed Ohno his bottle while also drinking his mug of coffee himself. When Sho had gone into the guest room, there was no one there.
"Mowing, papa." Ohno said sleepily, closing his eyes a bit as he drank more of his milk. He was wearing a bright red onesie with a glittering gold star on the front. Over it, he was wearing a warm black coat with a black and red beanie on top his head. Sho guessed that Jun had dressed Ohno that morning.
"Morning." Jun mumbled, giving a slight yawn as he readjusted Ohno in his arms. "Nino went out for work already. So what's your plan for today? If I recall, you're still off from work."
Sho hummed as he poured himself some coffee and grabbed some toast and eggs that were already cooked on the stove. "Well, since you already got Ohno ready, I plan on leaving here at 7:45. That'll give me and Satoshi enough time to drive to the gas station so I can get refueled. At 8:10 I'll start driving to the post office, but since there's construction on the main road, I won't be able to get there until 8:30, which I'm pretty frustrated since the drive is only supposed to be about ten minutes." Sho sighed as he took a forkful of his eggs and continued.
"I've estimated staying about thirty minutes at the post office since I have to drop off a package for my relatives from Gunma. I also need to get some mail so I've scheduled to be done at 9:00. From there, I need to pick up my watch that got broken during one of the Abunai shoots. At 9:20, I have a dentist appointment which should finish by 11:00. Afterwards, I need to go to the shoe repair shop for my dress shoes- the heel is coming off. At 11:40, Satoshi and I will go to have lunch at something called a 'Baby Cafe' that I've been to before on one of our filmings." Sho informed Jun as he put some jelly on his toast and took a big bite.
"But we can't stray too long since at 12:00 I need to hit the store to buy some toiletries and personal items because I'm starting to run out. At 2:00 I have to drop off a video that I borrowed from one of my friends. He lives pretty far away from the piano recital that I promised another friend I would go to so I have to just drop the video and leave. The recital starts from 3:30 going to 5:00. Then I have to drive far to come back so at 6:00 I can get get my assignment at the studio for News Zero so I can study it. After that, we should be coming home at 6:30 for dinner." Sho finished, as he drank some of his coffee.
Jun was burping Ohno as he merely stared blankly at Sho. "...you have a day off today, right?"
"Yeah." Sho nodded, eating the last of his toast.
Jun snorted. "Just making sure. Cause it sure as hell doesn't seem like it."
Sho frowned. "You already know how I spend my days off."
Jun nodded, "Yeah, and I still think you're like a robot or something." Wiping Ohno's mouth, he held the baby for Sho to take. "Here's Satoshi. Try to squeeze some time to take care of him in that crazy schedule of yours, okay?"
Sho held Ohno as they got up and put the dishes in the sink. "Don't worry, Satoshi will have fun today. Right Satoshi?" Sho asked Ohno, who in turn smiled widely at him and nodded.
Jun looked at them with a worried expression on his face. "You do know that taking care of a baby, even one as well-behaved as Satoshi, is a lot of work."
Sho was barely listening as he checked Ohno's baby bag to make sure everything was ready. "I know that. I'll keep an eye on him." He mumbled, zipping up the bag.
"You shouldn't underestimate how hard it is, Sho." Jun warned, staring as Sho slung the baby bag over his shoulder and adjusted Ohno nicely in his arms.
"Crap, we have to get going- Satoshi, say bye to JuJu. Bye Jun!" Sho yelled, rushing out of the room.
"JuJu! Bye-bye!" Ohno waved his tiny arm as Sho opened the front door. Both of them didn't see the worried look that was still on Jun's face as they left the house.
7:43 A.M.- "Okay, we left two minutes earlier than planned so we're good. How are you doing, Satoshi?" Sho asked, looking in the rear view mirror to where Ohno was sitting in his car seat at the back. Ohno had his fishy on his lap and was swaying back in forth to the music that was playing on the radio, looking wide-eyed at the window to the right.
Looking at Sho, Ohno gave a huge smile. "I wike caw wides!" Ohno exclaimed, and started pointing to something outside. "Wook, papa! A boo caw!"
Sho chuckled as he glanced at the blue car before turning forward again. "I see it Satoshi. You like blue cars?"
Ohno nodded fervently. "Boo is my favowite!"
Sho hummed as he continued driving, listening quietly to Ohno's musings and the music playing from the radio.
8:11 A.M.- "Satoshi, stay in the car. I'm gonna go and out some gas in the car." Sho instructed the baby as he got out.
"Gas?" Ohno repeatedly, looking thoughtful, "Wat is gas?"
Putting the nozzle in his car, Sho watched the numbers move as he answered. "Gas is the state of matter distinguished from the solid and liquid states by relatively low density and viscosity, the ability to diffuse readily, and the spontaneous tendency to become distributed uniformly throughout any container. In this case however, gas is a type of fuel that which vehicles like cars, trucks, and even planes need in order to move. Actually, there are many types of gas- like the ones that our body produces daily- that type of gas comes out of us in a fart or a burp. Gas is a very important substance in our lives." Sho rambled off as he close the gas tanks and paid one of the employees. "Do you know now, Satoshi?"
Ohno looked at him blankly for a few seconds before pointing to the bottom of the car. "Fishy fell down."
8:21 A.M.- Sho slowly parked the car off to the side of the road when a smell started to permeate the air. "Satoshi, couldn't you have gone when we were still at the gas station?" Sho asked, exasperated. He refused to drive in a smelly car- he already felt nauseated as it was.
Unbuckling Ohno's seatbelt, Sho put the changing blanket on the seat first (just in case of any messes) and laid Ohno onto the seat.
Ohno's face was red as gave a soft grunt and he pushed, a loud fart sounding in the car. He sighed as he looked back at Sho with wide innocent eyes, completely oblivious on what he just did.
Sho couldn't help but bite his lip, looking away. What did he do in his past life that was so terrible that he now had to deal with changing Arashi's leader?
Sho sighed and he pulled off the tapes of the diaper. "Yup. Human type of gas."
8:45 A.M.- "Aww...what a cute son you have there." A woman in her thirties cooed as she and her daughter walked back, finished with their transaction.
Sho and Ohno had been waiting in line for about fifteen minutes now. Unfortunately, the line was pretty long when they got there, but Sho had already anticipated that, hence why he had scheduled in thirty minutes for the post office.
Sho smiled as he patted Ohno's head, who was currently sitting comfortably in the baby carrier. Readjusting his sunglasses, Sho didn't bother correcting her about the son comment (since it was pretty much true, sorta) and replied, "Ah, thank you. You have a very pretty daughter there yourself." Sho pointed out, looking at the baby girl who was in the mom's arms.
The mom (who introduced herself as Nana) must have been one of those new mothers as she beamed up proudly and started a conversation about how smart her daughter was and how she got a job offer from one of those scouts to star in a commercial and etcetera.
As Sho listened politely to the woman's boasts, Ohno looked at the baby girl with amazed eyes (it was his first time seeing another baby than himself). She looked to be about his age, probably a few months older than him. Ignoring the adult's conversation, Ohno gave the baby a shy wave. "Hewo."
The baby girl also returned the wave and had a shy smile on her face. "Hi. Me Karin. Who are you?"
"Satohi." Ohno answered, hugging his fishy closer to his chest. He loved the members, but he was ecstatic to finally speak with someone his own age.
Karin pointed to his fishy. "Is he yours?"
Ohno nodded, a proud smile on his face as he showed held up his fishy. "He fishy. He Satohi favowite."
Karin looked at fishy with interested eyes. "Can I play with him?"
Ohno frowned as he brought fishy closer to his chest protectively. "No. Fishy bewong to Satohi."
Karin pouted but didn't try to reach for the doll. "If Satoshi don't share fishy, then Karin don't share kitty." She reached inside her mom's bag and pulled out her fluffy cat doll.
Ohno bit his lip. The cat doll's fur did look really soft. "Ok. But owee touch fishy. No hold." Ohno compromised, holding fishy out to Karin (but he made sure to keep a firm hold of his fishy, he didn't quite trust Karin yet and wasn't sure if she would try to pull a fast one of him).
Karin smiled brightly as she also held out her cat doll. "Ok! But you can only touch kitty too."
Ohno nodded and both babies reached out to pet each other's dolls. "Fwuffy..." Ohno whispered, feeling the soft cat's fur against his hand. It was better than he imagined it.
"Wow! It changes colors!" Karin awed, looking at the glowing fish doll. "Fishy is amazing!" She gushed.
Ohno smiled triumphly at her. "Yup. Fishy numbah one! But kitty is good too!" He told her.
Karin blushed as she hugged the cat doll to her, looking up at Ohno. "Karin like Satoshi. Satoshi like Karin too?"
Ohno blinked at that. "Karin good! Satohi wike wu too!" He told her innocently.
As both babies smiled at each other, Sho was discreetly checking his wristwatch, pretending to listen to the Nana's endless ramblings. "Ah, I think I'm up next." Sho said, internally sighing in relief now that he could escape from the mother.
Nana looked up in surprise as she gasped. "Oh, you're right. Well, this was such a fun chat but we must be leaving now. I hope you and your son take care. Karin, say bye!" The mother told them goodbye as she walked away, Karin looking from her back.
Karin smiled as she waved her hand. "Bye Satoshi! Bye Satoshi's papa! Bye Fishy!" She called out, giggling.
Ohno also smiled as he waved both arms at the retreating figures. "Bye Kawin! Bye Kawin mama! Bye kitty!"
Sho raised an eyebrow at the baby in the carrier. "You're pretty energetic today, Satoshi? Did you and Karin get to know each other?"
Ohno smiled as he nodded. "Kawin is nice."
9:10 A.M.- Sho sighed heavily as he walked into the shop to pick up his watch. He was ten minutes later than expected- unluckily, the employee who was helping him send his package was a new hire and took extra time (and needed some help from her more experienced co-worker) to put the right info on the package.
"But since there's no customers here, we can just get the watch and leave- the dental office is fifteen minutes away so we would only be five minutes late." Sho mumbled to himself, readjusting his plan as he waited for the owner to come back with his watch. He hated being late for anything- even if it was only five minutes.
He wasn't watching as Ohno looked at all the watches in the store in awe, looking closely at a certain sliver and gold watch that was hanging on display. "Papa!" Ohno called out, tugging on Sho's sleeves. Sho merely waved Ohno away, hushing Ohno as he kept thinking about his schedule and if they had enough time for Sho to stop by to get some matcha donuts that he had heard were pretty popular for his other Arashi members on their way home.
Ohno huffed and pouted as he was being ignored. Looking back at the watch, Ohno reached his tiny hand to touch it.
"Okay, here's your watch, Sakurai-san. Hopefully, everything's to your liking?" The owner smiled as he handed the watch to Sho.
Checking the watch, Sho nodded his head in approval. "It's looks like brand new. Thank you so much for your hard work." He thanked, bowing his head.
The owner grinned as he replied. "Anything for one of our favorite customers. Feel free to come back anytime." Sho bowed again as he pocketed his watch, turning to leave.
Just as Sho put one foot out the door, suddenly an alarm sounded in the shop, the front door suddenly slamming close in front of him. Sho froze as he looked around to see what was going on. The owner got out from the back and looked at Sho with serious eyes. "Sakurai-san, this is an alarm that rings when one of our shop's merchandise leaves the shop, unsold. I hate to accuse you but did you take something from here?"
Sho's jaw dropped as he shook his head furiously. "No, of course not! I would never..." Sho trailed off as he looked down at the baby in his arms. "Satoshi..." Sho said, looking at the baby's face.
Ohno looked up at his papa with eyes shining with tears. "Just wanna touch watch. Watch fall down and Satohi get it." He knew that he was in trouble, but he didn't know why. He didn't mean to do something bad.
Sho reached into the baby carrier and pulled out the silver and gold watch that was laying against Ohno's chest.
Sho handed the watch back to the owner as he immediately began bowing low, wrapping his arms around Ohno so he wouldn't fall out. "I am so sorry!" He apologized, horrified. "I should have been watching him closely. But he didn't mean to take the watch. I'm so so sorry!"
The owner raised his hand up and patted Sho on the back. "Don't worry, I understand. I didn't really think you of all people would steal. It was a honest mistake." He chuckled, letting the incident go.
Sho kept bowing down nevertheless as he repeated. "I'm sorry."
9:35 A.M.- "I sowy, papa." Ohno apologized tearfully. He had been repeating those words over and over since the incident, but Sho had yet to say anything to him, instead driving the car in silence towards his appointment. Sho sighed as he parked his car into the space and killed the engine, getting out of the car.
Ohno was about to burst into tears, thinking that he was going to be abandoned as punishment for being a bad boy, so he was surprised when Sho opened the door to the back and slid into the car.
"Shh...come here." Sho hushed, unbuckling Ohno's car seat and placing Ohno in his arms, hugging the baby tightly. Ohno had started crying, burrowing his face into Sho's chest while Sho merely cuddled him and rubbed soothing circles on his back, whispering comforting words to calm him.
"I s-s-sowy...." Ohno sniffed, his cries finally dying down.
Sho smiled at him and shook his head. "I know you didn't do it on purpose. And I'm sorry for not saying anything during the ride- I was too distract changing my schedule to say anything."
"Papa not mad at me?" Ohno asked fearfully, not wanting the answer to be yes.
Sho smiled at him as he leaned down to give him a peck on his forehead. "Of course not, Satoshi. I'm frustrated because I'm completely late for my appointment, yes, but I'm definitely not angry at you. It was a honest mistake."
"I weally sowy, papa." Ohno repeated again, making sure that Sho knew how sorry he was.
Sho chuckled as he grabbed his handkerchief from his pocket to wipe up Ohno's face. "I know you are. Now, let's cheer up so we can go see the dentist, okay?"
Ohno blew his nose into the handkerchief before giving Sho a small smile, his eyes red from crying. "Dentist is scawy...." He mumbled, looking over Sho's shoulder to look at the clinic.
Sho lightly poked the baby's nose, causing Ohno to giggle. Sho grinned at the sound- he preferred the sound of his laughing than his crying. "Then it's a good thing that papa is the one with the appointment, huh?"
Ohno stopped giggling but had a worried look on his face. "Papa be okay?"
Sho nodded as he opened the door to get out. "Hopefully. But Satoshi will be there to watch over papa, right?"
Ohno nodded furiously, a determined look on his face. "Yes!"
9:50 A.M.- "Ah rehee sohee ahen." Sho apologized awkwardly, his mouth wide opened as the dentist looked inside, using one of those silver equipment to poke at his teeth.
"No, I understand Sakurai-san. Thankfully, my next appointment had cancelled so we could still have your appointment today." The dentist assured him, still looking in his mouth.
"Papa ok?" Ohno asked, looking wide eyed as he craned his neck up to see what was going on. Of course, Ohno refused to be apart from Sho, wailing when they tried to leave him with the receptionist, so Sho ended up getting permission for Ohno to sit on his lap during the procedure. The baby also had a mini apron for protection, just in case he got wet or whatnot.
The dentist's eyes crinkled up (her mask covered her smile) as she nodded at the baby before continuing her work. "Yes, Satoshi-kun. Your papa's teeth looks good so far, I'm sure that all we'll need to do today is a simple cleaning and we'll be all done here."
Ohno nodded, his attention on Sho's mouth. "It hurt?"
Sho made a negative sound as the dentist also shook her head. "Do you want me to look at your teeth too, Satoshi-kun?" The dentist asked the baby teasingly as she started to rinse out Sho's teeth.
Ohno looked at her with horrified eyes, slowly sinking down so half his face was hidden under the apron. "No tank wu." Even Sho ended up chuckling at that.
11:10 A.M.- The appointment ended sooner than Sho expected so he was only ten minutes behind schedule when he went to the shoe repair shop.
"Please don't touch anything, okay Satoshi?" Sho lightly warned the baby in his carrier, not wanting to deal with another 'stealing' episode.
Ohno nodded his head as he waved his blue ocean toothbrush that the dentist had given him in the air, pretending like it was a wand. "Ok!"
As Sho interacted with the shoesman, Ohno was behaving well, keeping his hands to himself as he quietly blubbered nonsense as he waved his toothbrush around.
The shoesman gave Satoshi a smile as Sho handed his shoes to him for a closer look. "You have such a cute baby there." He commented, watching as Ohno pointed at a shoe heel in the wall with his toothbrush.
Sho had a proud smile on his face as he nodded. "He is indeed the cutest. His name is Satoshi."
The shoesman smiled wider as he gave Sho a secret look. "You look good with a baby, Sakurai-san. Maybe you should start getting your own baby soon." He suggested, giving Sho a good wink.
Sho blushed as he unconsciously hugged Ohno closer to him. "Ah, I'm pretty busy these days..."
The shoesman merely smiled at him as he replied. "Just think about it." Turning to Ohno, he said. "Ne, Satoshi-kun? Are you a good boy?"
Ohno looked at the shoesman and was about to agree before he stopped as he looked at Sho questionably. Was he still a good boy even after being caught stealing?
Sho caught the look and smiled gently at him. "Of course he is. Satoshi is very good."
Ohno's face brightened at that as he gave the shoesman a very wide smile, showing whatever teeth he had. "I vewy good!"
The shoesman laughed at that as he nodded, reaching for something underneath. "Just as I thought. And for such a good boy, I'll give you this." In his hands, he held up a pair of shiny black dress shoes. "I know that these are too big for you, but when you grow older, I hope you can where these for a very special occasion and hopefully with a very special person beside you."
Sho's jaw dropped as he looked at the expensive looking shoes in the older man's hands. "Are you sure you should be giving something that grand to only a baby?"
The older man smile seemed to dim as he suddenly looked like he recalled something. "These shoes were supposed to go to my own grandson but...he sadly passed away a few months ago. When I saw Satoshi he looked so much like him that...I knew that these shoes should go to him."
Sho looked apologetic but the shoesman stopped him before he could say anything. "So Satoshi, it would mean a whole lot to me if you wore these one day. Will you?"
Ohno looked at the shoes, his eyes glittering with interest. "Shiny...will wear dem! I pwomise!" Ohno chirped, reaching his tiny finger out to poke at the shoes.
Sho chuckled as he gently pulled the shoes closer to them. "It was nice of oji-san to give you new shoes, ne Satoshi? Isn't there something you want to say?"
Ohno looked up at Sho first before turning to the shoesman and smiling brightly. "Tank wu!"
The shoesman smiled brilliantly, tears in his eyes. "No, thank you."
12:00 P.M.- "I bet you're really hungry, huh Satoshi?" Sho asked, opening the door to the cafe.
Just like Sho had remembered, the baby cafe was painted in a neutral gray color, but the lighting made the whole place inviting and relaxing. In the center of the room was a big area that was made for babies and children only and on the sides were the tables where the adults could sit and eat while still being able to keep an eye on their children. As Sho looked around for a table, discreetly adjusting the sunglasses and hat he wore as a disguise, he noticed a familiar face gesturing towards him. Sho sighed as he recognized the person.
"Ah, hello! It's you again- you can sit here!" Nana, the mother from the bank, had yelled to him, frantically pointing to the empty seat beside her.
Mentally cursing the coincidence and the occupied tables around him, Sho had no choice but to take up her offer. As he got to the table, Nana suggested for Sho to let Satoshi into the baby's area- her own daughter was there as well and they could play together.
Sho looked down at Ohno and smiled at the look of wonder Ohno had in his eyes as he looked at the play area. Sho first went to the changing rooms when he felt that Ohno's diaper was a bit wet. He then went back to sit down at the table so Satoshi could drink his bottle of milk first (it was lunchtime, after all). After burping Satoshi and waiting a few minutes for the milk to digest properly, Sho let Ohno go into the play area.
As Sho was once again brought into another conversation with the proud mother (he mentally cringed as he knew that there would be no way that he could just eat quickly and leave), Ohno just sat on his tush in the play area, just observing things around him. At one part there were children playing with blocks while another was playing with dolls and there was a TV where children were huddled up to watch some children's show. Ohno decided to go to the arts and crafts station, also noticing that Karin was there as well.
"Hi Satoshi!" Karin waved as Ohno crawled towards her (it felt good to crawl since all of his member's preferred to hold him in their arms). Karin scooted over to make room for Ohno on the mini table. "You want paint too?" Karin gestured towards the paints that were in the table.
Ohno nodded as one of the employees gave him his own paper and shifted some of the paints towards him. "Hello, Satoshi-kun. My name is Reina-chan. We're doing fingerpainting here. Would you like to try also?" The employee smiled widely at him.
Ohno quickly looked back to where Sho was eating, making sure he was there, before turning back to the girl and nodding. "Ok!"
"What you paint, Satoshi?" Karin asked as she peeked over to Ohno's drawing.
"I paint mama, papa, Kazu and JuJu." Ohno answered, his focus was solely on the paper and paint in front of him.
Karin hummed as she also continued her painting. "Me paint my mommy and daddy. Me also paint me but me a princess here!" Karin showed Ohno her painting.
Ohno nodded as he looked at her work. "Kawin pwetty here." He complimented, pointing to her in the picture.
Karin blushed at that as she put the painting down. "Satoshi is good too. Satoshi should paint himself too since Satoshi also in the family," She pointed out to him.
Ohno paused as he looked at her before looking back to his painting. "I do dat." From there, they both started to paint their pictures, making them as pretty as possible.
After they finished their pictures, they let Reina take them away to dry while Karin brought Ohno to the other stations to play at.
1:20 P.M.- "Ah, I'm sorry, Nana-san but I really must get going." Sho stood up, feeling relieved as he could finally get away from the woman now that he finished his meal...and dessert...and tea that the mother had forc-insisted for him to have. Nana was nice and obviously a good mother but...she talked too much.
"Aww...but it was so much fun talking to you!" Nana pouted. "But I guess you must be busy. It really was such a nice coincidence seeing you here!"
Sho held in his snort as he forced a polite smile on his face. "Yes...coincidence, indeed."
Sho went to get Ohno and he found his annoyance melting away as he saw Ohno and Karin curled up on the pillows in front of the TV, both of them sucking their thumbs as they napped away peacefully.
1:40 P.M.- Sho moaned as he realized that he was over a hour late in his schedule.
Stopping at a red light, Sho checked the time and once again began refiguring his schedule.
He had no choice but to forgo buying the toiletries he needed (he'll just have to go home for tonight).
With a sigh, he did a u-turn and drove directly to his friend's place to return their video.
2:40 P.M.- The world was seriously against him today, Sho grumbled as he pulled up into his friend's driveway. He had to have the worst luck as he managed to hit every red light getting there.
As Ohno was still sleeping in his car seat, Sho decided to leave the baby there and keep the engine running so he could just drop off the video and leave automatically.
When his friend opened the door, Sho merely shoved the video at him and turned to get back to his car.
"Hey! Don't you want to come in for a drink or something?" His friend called out to him. "And is that a baby in your backseat?!"
Sho waved him off as he went into the car and started pulling away. "Sorry, got a recital to get to! Say hi to your mom for me!"
3:47 P.M.- "Papa, were are we?" Ohno asked, staring at the vast ocean, memorized as the blue waves crashed against the sand to their right.
"I wonder also, Satoshi." Sho laid down on the front of his car, sitting Ohno on his chest as he let out a very loud groan.
While he drove to get to the piano recital that had already started, a thump suddenly sounded as the car slowed down before finally stopping in the middle of nowhere.
The thump was loud enough to wake Ohno up, causing the baby to whimper as he looked at Sho with tears in his eyes. Sho immediately reached into the back to get Ohno, comforting him in his arms before bringing them out to check what happened.
Apparently Sho must have hit a sharp rock or something as one of the back tires were flat. Unfortunately for him, he also didn't have a spare tire in his trunk (his old spare tire was used about a month ago when he and Aiba had gone on a date).
Ohno blinked, looking away from the ocean, as he twisted his body to look at Sho. "Papa sad?"
Sho opened his eyes to look at Ohno before looking up to stare at the baby blue sky. "Yes. Papa is sad, very sad. Papa had the entire day planned out, but things just didn't go the way papa wanted it to. And now, we're in the middle of nowhere, can't even go anywhere since the mechanic that papa called said they he can't make it here until 5:30, meaning that we definitely won't make it to the recital or even to pick up my assignment for News Zero at this point." Sho sighed in defeat as he cuddled Ohno tighter to him as he closed his eyes.
This was the worst day ever.
Ohno frowned, not liking the sad look on his papa's face. Looking around, Ohno spotted something.
"Papa! Can we go dere?" Ohno asked suddenly, patting Sho in the face.
Sho grimaced as Ohno hit his nose and opened his eyes to see Ohno gesturing towards the sand. "Satoshi, you could get dirty." Sho told him.
Ohno shook his head and pointed to the sand. "No pway. Satohi get someting!"
Sho let out an exasperated sigh but got up and brought Ohno to the place that he pointed at. Ohno reached down and Sho carefully lowered him.
"Mm....ah....uhhhhh-yay! Get!" Ohno cheered happily, his fist tightly wrapped around something that Sho couldn't see. Bringing the baby up, Ohno looked at Sho brightly as he opened his hand towards him.
Sho gasped at the beautiful shell that was in his hands. It was a small shell, only slightly bigger than Ohno's fist, but it was beautiful and sparkled brilliantly in the sunlight. But what amazed Sho the most was that it shone the different colors of the rainbow.
"Satoshi...this is beautiful! How did you find this?" Sho asked, looking at the shell in awe.
Ohno looked at him in triumph as he answered, "I see shell and get it." Sho was impressed- he figured that Ohno had pretty good eyesight, remembering how Ohno found him in hide-and-seek. "Fo wu." Ohno told him, handing the shell to Sho.
Sho looked up at the baby in surprise. "You don't want it for yourself?"
Ohno began nodding before stopping himself as he started to shake his head. "Wan papa to have. Satohi wan papa be happy wike Satohi is happy to be wit papa!" Ohno smiled up at Sho as he put the shell in Sho's hand.
Sho looked down at the shell and couldn't help but feel tears coming to his eyes as he could feel his throat choke up. Everything just started to hit him at once and it was overwhelming. Ohno gasped as he noticed this too. "Papa sad? Satohi sowy- no wan papa to cwy!" Ohno cried, tears shining in his eyes as well.
Sho let out a laugh as he shook his head. "Papa isn't sad. I'm actually feeling very happy right now."
Ohno looked confused. "Papa happy? No cwy?"
Sho nodded, some of his tears escaping his eyes and dropping onto his cheeks against his will. "Yes. Papa is crying, but not because of sadness. It's because I'm so happy right now."
Ohno bit his lip, trying to understand. "So papa cwy cause he happy?" He said, scrunching his nose.
Sho laughed as he gently bump the baby on his nose. "Yup. These are tears of happiness." He assured him. Sho lifted Ohno closer to him so he could look straight into his eyes.
"Satoshi...I'm the type of person who schedules his entire day, even his days off. If things don't go according to schedule, I get very sad and feel like I failed that day." Sho sighed. "That's why I tend to forget that sometimes, the best things happens when we least expect them. For me today, that best thing was you."
Ohno's eyes widened as he pointed his teeny thumb towards himself. "Me?"
Sho grinned as he nodded. "You. I never expected for you to come with me today and honestly, I didn't think it was a good idea but...I'm really glad you came. Even if I couldn't do everything I wanted today and half of my schedule was pretty much a fail, when I think about this day, I can't help but feel like I had a lot of fun. And it was all because you were here with me."
Ohno grinned as he leaned in a gave Sho a loud and wet kiss on the cheek. "Satohi haf fun too! Happy to be wit papa togeder! Weally weally wuv papa!"
Sho returned the grin and gave Ohno another two kisses on both his cheeks. "Thank you for being here with me, Satoshi." They smiled at each other before Sho turned to check what time it was.
4:- "You know what?" Sho carefully held Ohno tightly as he took off his wristwatch and put it in his pocket. "For today, let's not think about the time or schedules anymore. Do you want to play in the sand and walk with me along the water?"
Sho chuckled as Ohno started to jump in his arms, waving his hands up excitedly. "Yes pease!"
