Today in the middle of our "hurricane", Fay, I went to Daytona State College and registered for the culinary program. I will be starting on Monday. I (and my group of fellow triathlon trainees) finished the race today with out any real problems. As a matter of fact, I think each one of us placed, too! I got 2nd place in my age group (did not expect that). The swim went better than I thought -- no waves, like the ocean, works better for me. The bike went pretty well, too. I can't believe that I have been training for this stupid triathlon for 14 weeks. If feels like that is all anybody talks about so I'm kind of getting tired of it. Well, I think I finally found out what it feels like to "bonk." That is, in the athletic form of the word... I do have 2 kids. Yesterday I took an hour long cycling class in the morning. I can't believe it but I have been keeping up with the six-day-a-week triathlon training for the last 2 1/2 weeks. Yeah, it's only been 2 1/2 weeks but it is very easy to think," ah, i'm just going to sleep in today." I am seeing a slight improvement on my swimming which is my weakest event and most hated event.
