My past weekend

Yes it is Wednesday and I am only now able to write about my past weekend.

Saturday was busy day. I started at about 7:15am driving to the beach to meet some other crazy triathlon training maniacs. We were meeting to have a practice swim in the ocean, a 1/4 mile! There are many things to fear of the ocean, one being the most obvious -- sharks. Then, of course, there are jellyfish, regular fish, too many birds, rip tide, and, oh yeah, DROWNING. Let's just say there were a few things on my mind that morning. However, I still managed to get passed the waves breaking and out into the ocean to swim like a drowing dog. As awful as it felt and probably looked even worse, I still made the distance and felt pretty good for having done it. Don't know if I will do it again anytime soon, though.

After that we all drove (some biked, not me) to a store called Spikes that was having a shoe clinic for us that morning at 9:30. It was a great store. They have the best sports apparel of pretty much any sporting store around here, and they were so informative about the right shoe for each of our feet. They picked out the perfect shoe and it feels great! I couldn't wait to go running in it the next day. I also got triathlon shorts and a tri top. They gave us 20% off that day so I didn't hold back.

After I left the shoe store, I had to run around town picking up balloons, ice cream scoops, and other party stuff for Suzi's birthday party that afternoon. I got home around 12:30 and set up for the party for the next 3 hours. Everything started around 3:30. The kids got right into the waterslide and playground while the parents sat back in the shade trying not to overheat. Soon after we made enormous ice cream sundaes with every topping imaginable. Of course, the kids' eyes were bigger than their stomachs but I think the fun was in the making, not eating. Then back into the water to wash off for a while, then presents. I don't think I have ever seen so much pink princess/barbi stuff ever! Suzi was one happy 4 year old. The party was pretty much over by 5:30 and I think everyone had a good time.

I cleaned up a little, took a shower and raced off at around 7:00 to a friends birthday party at someone else's house. It was a silly, fun, girls only party that had us drinking quite a bit, dancing quite a bit, and not getting home until after 1:30am.

It was one of the busiest days I've had in a while and also one of the most fun. I love days like that.
