I noticed that my neighbors had their windows open, so I opened mine... then immediately had to close the windows and the blinds on the sunny side of the building because it was actually really hot out! Yesterday was chilly and, until now, there had yet to be a day where I didn't need a jacket. I was wearing my wool coat last week!

We're having a thaw, and it's remarkable how everything as become Instantly Ugly. The big snowfall was pretty dry and fluffy, and then we had a few rounds of flurries after that, all of which helped coat the landscape in pure, wintry white. The car isn't buried (it's actually wind-blown bare) and the parking area doesn't look bad, but the streets in front and behind me haven't been plowed AT ALL, so I'm obviously not going anywhere for a while today.

The rain yesterday melted all the snow and according to the weather report, it's 49 degrees outside right now and the expected high for the day is 53.

March decided to arrive in December I guess?

I finished all the cookie baking on Sunday, along with one batch of lamington cake. In order to keep the chocolate shortbread from burning (hard to tell when it's already dark brown) I cut out all of the lemon-ginger shortbread first, then cut out the rest of the chocolate and baked them with each tray about half chocolate and half lemon-ginger. Well, that was disappointing. Not to rub it in for those who got buried under snow, but there isn't even enough here to cover the taller blades of grass in the back yard. I was cleaning the sewing room, which I hadn't really done since I finished the Chocolate and Pumpkin jacket. Sewing with corduroy produces little, tiny pills of fuzz and when those pills are from dark brown corduroy, they look exactly like ants until you get really close.
