A great deal of the snow from the
Blizzaster had melted by the end of last week. The lawn was half bare by Saturday. Then on Sunday it started snowing again and didn't really let up until this morning. It wasn't nearly as much snow as before, but the first round on Sunday was heavy and wet and was followed overnight by freezing rain. I went out after dinner on Sunday to brush the snow off the car. This didn't actually help because I still spend 15 minutes Monday morning scraping and chipping at the thick coating of ice that covered every window. Fortunately, the second round of snow that fell on Monday was light and fluffy.
I saw The Social Network on Saturday. It was very good and I was impressed. No Boston scenery, though, which was a bummer. It had something of the feel of a historical film, which made me feel weird since it is set in a time in which I was an adult. That's not something I'm used to (although I suppose I should get used to it...) Every time a time stamp came up on the screen, I would think "I... was in grad school while this was happening." Then again, I don't know what else should be expected from a movie that concerns events less than a decade old. (There's something kind of meta in that - trends and developments in technology and the internet can move so quickly that seven years ago is a long time ago.)
I'm waiting for a moment like an old TA of mine had when he found out that our school offered a course called History Since 1968. "Enough history has accumulated since my birth that there's a friggin' class on it!" I shouldn't have to wait long. That was in 2001.
Also this weekend, I made more of the orange-cardamom cookies I made for the Superbowl, but this time without icing. That's a little too much sugar for every-day consumption (although it's the easiest way to give your cookies the team colors). I had had other plans for Sunday, but canceled due to the bad roads, so baking cookies helped me feel productive.
