7. Were You Ever the ‘New Kid’? Not when I was really young, but when I was 16 I transferred to a different high school, and I've been new in various different groups/settings through my life. It's never easy.

Because the weather forecast said there would probably be scattered showers today I decided to stay inside and get my exercise on the exercise bike. Of course it hasn't rained yet, but oh well. The handyman finally showed up just before 3, and didn't leave until almost 5. My bedside lamp stopped working last night. Unlike the wooden lamp I brought from Australia, I had no emotional attachment to the bedside lamp, so I ordered a new one which was delivered today and seems to work just fine. A handyman was supposed to come today between midday and 3 pm to repair my broken blind strings, but I've just had a message from him that he has some delays, and he wants to know if he can come tomorrow instead. Tomorrow is ok, as long as he doesn't want to come in the morning (parkrun time!), but I was really hoping to finally get this done today ( Read more... ) -

Another day, another stupid thing I did, but this time only my pride and my wallet were hurt. A couple of weeks ago my gas bill arrived, with the due date being 4th November. I did something stupid this morning. Running at first light, I tripped over a kerb (because I thought the cut-away was wider than it actually was) and landed on first my knees and then my hands, mainly the right hand. I know it's election day, but I voted by mail about a month ago so voting was not top of my consciousness this morning. (And I'm too scared to think about this election anyway.)
