I did something stupid this morning. Running at first light, I tripped over a kerb (because I thought the cut-away was wider than it actually was) and landed on first my knees and then my hands, mainly the right hand. Both knees were skinned, as well as the outer base of my right hand. My left hand has a very minor scrape and a bit of loose skin at the base of the thumb. I scrambled to my feet, waited for a minute or two to recover from the shock, determined that nothing was broken and my knees weren't hurting too much, and continued with my run. When I got home I washed the blood off the various grazes and applied bandaids, but now my knees are starting to feel stiff all over the kneecaps, rather than just sore at the grazes. I'm sure they'll recover quickly, but I am kicking myself that I even let this happen. I've been very careful when I've been out running over the last months, but I let my guard down this morning.
I normally make sourdough bread once a week or so, but today I'm making a loaf of yeast bread instead because I wanted something quicker than sourdough, plus I wanted something good to come out of this day.
It's very warm today, about 25°C/77°F. It's a beautiful day, but considering we're already into November, it shouldn't be like this. The forecast says it might rain tomorrow and then will be a few degrees cooler over the next few days. I hope it does rain, because we haven't had any rain since the first week of October apart from one or two negligible sprinkles.
