I spent this last week (fall break for the college) supervising/participating with 10 students from the office on a service-immersion trip on the west side of Chicago, a neighborhood called East Garfield Park. Today when I walked by the Farmer's Market I saw very, very dark purple peppers for the first time. They were lying next to pure white ones. I asked about them, and found out they're chocolate and ivory peppers, respectively, and that the former tastes bitter like raw chocolate ( Read more... )
