Let's talk about...
NOT being prepared, luggage-wise, for a trip to NJ, and filling up a backpack with clothes and the like in 15 minutes.
Or,
Having two and a half hours to kill in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and wandering through a Goodwill only to discover a mammoth $7 value pack of jewelery, purchasing it, and laying it out during a birthday party at Conway's, the seedy Westown (MKE) bar. We threw out the mismatched earring backs and the toe ring, dear God the used toe ring the humanity, but claimed pieces that were wearable, and thus "vintage." (But let's not talk about the Leinie's beer mug I won in a coin toss. Thanks.)
Let's talk about landing in Newark and then coming home to a full flippin house of family friends and extended siblings. Even though I never know where I'll be sleeping these days, and the house has a lot of space but none of it is conducive to privacy, let's talk about being home for the first time in over 11 months. Let's talk about how fabulous the movie "Persepolis" is, and how great it is to watch it with your brothers (real and adopted).
Let's talk: Thanksganowicz, Thanksgivinger, Bro-giving. Let's talk about babka and poppyseed bread, and those infamous yams. I don't know how or why I became comfortable with chatting up adult relatives I don't see very often, but I did, though I'd rather talk about the kids' table.
Let's talk about post-dinner hangs in the kitchen drinking coffee with Mama Epp and Grandmama Epp.
