The BEAST 50 Most Loathsome People in America, 2006

I discovered the BEAST's annual Most Loathsome People list last year. Let's see who they list as The BEAST 50 Most Loathsome People in America, 2006:

Jesus Christ: May not have existed, and if he did, probably wasn't even American, but more of a dark-hued Jewish dwarf. A hygienically challenged hairball who rarely bathed or brushed his teeth. If ( Read more... )

I actually saw a kid reading the print version of The Beast in the Learning Center a few weeks back. I don't know if it's just the "50 Most Loathsome People" issue now or all issues, but it looks like the print version is no longer free.

One of my favorites is

YOU
16. You

Your whole life has been a pitiful exercise in rote mimicry, a meek subjugation of individuality in exchange for herd approval. Your delusions of "common sense" wisdom stem from an unwillingness to seek information and an inability to critically analyze it. You never hesitate to offer strong opinions on subjects you don't know a damn thing about. You're willing to believe anything a guy in a suit says on TV, as long as it doesn't hint at your culpability in the negligent homicide of your country and planet or otherwise cloud your streak-free conscience. You're more worried about friction on the "Desperate Housewives" set than the lack of health coverage at your tedious, soul-destroying job. You have no idea what is going on in the world, and you're fine with that ( ... )

I think he's a little hard on Jesus. It's not his fault that he was deified, that everyone completely misunderstood
everything he said in the two millenia following his death, that the Council of Nicea destroyed the New Testament, and that the Catholic Church decided to play power politics for a couple centuries...

At least the Gnostics seemed to get it right for a little while...

I've seen this guy in a report on television! No shit! WTF???

How do people FALL for this crap?

Ever read any Robert A. Heinlein? He posits the existence of a group which is called, if I remember correct, the "Society for Aesthetic Deletions."

Jose de Jesus sounds like a candidate for their list...
