I thoroughly enjoyed the social commentary and pure wit of
The BEAST 50 Most Loathsome People in America, 2005. Everyone should send this to their conservative mother-in-law. Pat Robertson shares the limelight with Donovan McNabb, Oprah, Paris Hilton, GWB, and more.
I am ranked at 1015 on Amazon! Ahh! I'm so close to that top 1000. I wonder if I should be sick tomorrow and furiously write a backlog of movie reviews. Heheheh. I'm up to date with every book I've read since Fall 2002, but I have tons of hand-written movie reviews/notes that I still need to turn into full-fledged reviews. Also, "loyalty votes" stop counting after you've voted 5 or so times for one reviewer, so don't kill yourself voting on my reviews. But share if there is anything you like!
Shout out to
xterminal: I just went to review Steve Almond's
My Life in Heavy Metal, which is not, in fact, about heavy metal (to my disappointment). After I posted mine, I read the Spotlight review, and I was like, damn, that is one heck of a succint review that really gets to the heart of this book--lots of great characterization, low on plot. Then I realized it was yours! So, no surprise. You definitely beat ol' HK on review style any day.
Anyway, you and I must both have read about the book on
bookslut or
booktards. I know I had checked it out of the library well before Jan 16, your review date, so I didn't hear about it from you. I just thought it was interesting that you and I both picked up the same March 2003 book and read it in January 2006.
On another reviewing note, I'm now reviewing books for
Rambles.net, which is a pretty cool site, except for the fact that I can't access it from work, so I have no idea what my reviews look like once they've been edited and put up there in the last few days. I need to remember to check it out at home.
EDIT: I forgot to include
HITMAN-The most trusted name in professional killings, which cracked me up this morning. They look like they deserve Better Business Bureau approval, and you can even get a gift certificate!
