Chapter Twelve
Uchi looked at the watch on his hand, when the clock hits 7 pm, Uchi quickly get changed because he wouldn’t want Ryo to wait for him much longer. He said good-bye to Sakurai-san and headed outside.
Tegoshi was already gone 15 minutes earlier, even though it’s not 7pm yet. He was just too happy to see his friend, the famous Kame-chan picks him up to go somewhere more fun than working there.
I spent the last hour in the storage room..
I wonder if he’s still here.. Well, it’s not possible..
He has to take Chinen home..
Uchi was sad about it, there’s a slight hope that he wanted Yamapi to still be there waiting for him. Even though he reject Yamapi’s invitation before because of his promise with Ryo, and also because he was upset of Yamapi and Tegoshi’s little conversation -not includes him-, he would’ve changed his mind if Yamapi had waited for him.
Uchi shouldn’t be this upset to see Yamapi wasn’t there anymore. He was cold towards him before. And he couldn’t blame it on Yamapi, it’s just what he felt. How he starting to realize that he and Yamapi are two different person, from different path of lives.
He drives a Jaguar and Uchi has 3 part-time jobs. It’s as simple as that.

“So.. What are you planning on buying him?” asked Uchi kindly when they are already walking together,
“I dunno..” mumbled Ryo confused.
Ryo and Uchi walks together in a crowded Shibuya street. Uchi even has to speak out loudly because there’s music everywhere and it’s just so many people on the road. They passed so many stores but Ryo didn’t seem to get interested in any of it.
“Umm… Do you want to buy him clothes?” asked Uchi again.
“I dunno..” Ryo shook his head.
“What about… CD?”
“I dunno..” answered Ryo looking completely clueless.
“Hmmm.. A painting maybe?”
“Na-ah..”
“A wallet?” asked Uchi starting to feel depressed.
“No..” answered Ryo short again.
“A ring..?” said Uchi excitedly, pointing his index finger at a jewelry shop near them.
“I’m not proposing him!!” replied Ryo immediately.
Uchi chuckles. But then he saw Ryo’s dumb face like he was really out of place. But Uchi knew that Ryo wanted to give something special for Tegoshi.
Suddenly Uchi pulled Ryo’s hand and brought him to the nearest Ice Cream cart on the street. Uchi quickly ordered two cones. Both of them were strawberries flavor. Ryo didn’t understand why Uchi bought him an ice cream.
“Let’s just eat this first.. You could relax and finally your brain start working, and then we continue searching for presents.. Okay?!” said Uchi innocently but with deep meaning. “Okay, Nishikido-kun?”
Ryo stared at him, pouts in a manly way. But soon smile starting to spread on his face as he lick the ice cream. He knew he needs to relax a little.
“Thank you..” said Ryo.
“Eh! There’s a bench! Kochii.. kochi.. lets seat there and talk, and you can tell me about Tegoshi, what he likes and all.. I’m sure you knew about that perfectly right?”
Ryo just nodded. “I knew everything about him..”
They are now sitting in one long bench, with people passing by just like that. But somehow Ryo can talk about Tegoshi from his point of view to Uchi. He really wants to talk about Tegoshi the way he felt inside, but just doesn’t know who to talk to. And now he found that person. The person that could listen to what he truly felt.
“Ah!!!” screamed Uchi when he realized something. Ryo almost jumped from his seat of shocked.
“Nani?”
“Earlier.. Tegoshi and .. Well, Tegoshi said that he wants to learn playing guitar! Guitar dayo!! Why don’t you buy it for him? And I’ll ask Yamashita-kun to buy something else for Tegoshi..” Uchi’s tension dropped a bit lower when he’s telling this. Maybe he remembers about Tegoshi and Yamapi before.
Ryo sensed something different in Uchi’s tone. Because usually Uchi looked so happy whenever he mention about that Yamashita guy. But Ryo thought he shouldn’t bother asking because it just seems personal things.
“Guitar ne.. “ said Ryo thinking. “Guitar.. Is it really what he wants right now?”
“Yes!”
“Will it make him happy?” asked Ryo in doubts.
“Yes, Nishikido-kun!” said Uchi, he tried to convince Ryo more.
“Can I really see him smiling?” asked Ryo again, this time he stared at his ice cream.
“Definitely..” said Uchi.
They laughed together, saying that the guitar probably wouldn’t last long because Tegoshi will just get sick of studying the chords and will just use the guitar as a racket to hit things.
It’s been a while for Uchi doing things like this. Hanging out and just have fun. He’s always so busy with his family that he didn’t make time for himself, and didn’t make a lot of friends. So he really enjoys being here right now.
Then suddenly Uchi’s cellphone rang.
Ryo saw Uchi’s face changed a bit when he stared at his cellphone’s screen.
Yamashita-kun was the id caller.
“Hai?” asnwered Uchi. He's somehow nervous.
“Where are you?”
“Home..” said Uchi.
“You said you were going with Ryo..” said Yamapi.
“Oh, we’re already on the way home..” Uchi lied.
“I can pick you up from there.. Where are you now?” asked Yamapi sounded intense.
“No, you don’t have to.. We’re already near my house.. I’ll talk to you later okay? I’ll see you tomorrow, bye!” said Uchi quickly hang up the phone. He was so nervous and he’s afraid he still sounded upset so Uchi decided not to talk to Yamapi for now. He’ll feel better tomorrow maybe. Just maybe.
Ryo just stood still beside Uchi, knowing that the younger boy was probably having a little problem right now. But to make the atmosphere stay still and didn’t turn awkward after hearing the call Uchi made, Ryo suddenly stood up and smile.
“Let’s go.. Let’s find the guitar for Tegoshi..” said Ryo.
“Uhn!”

On the other hand, Yamapi was just staring at his cell phone. Clearly bothered by the facts that Uchi was avoiding him. Hanging up his call just like that. He really wants to see him, or at least talk to him. Uchi’s been.. well.. how to say it.. cold to him?
Yamapi walked on the Shibuya street alone. He was actually planning on taking Uchi to dinner, but got rejected by the younger boy. So he doesn’t have any plans for tonight. He
thought he should just look for Tegoshi’s birthday presents.
He saw a white jacket at the street store, and he was actually going to buy that for Tegoshi. Because it suits him very much. But then he remembers that Tegoshi asked him to buy a guitar for him. So even though Yamapi has bought the white jacket, he’s still going to find the guitar.
What Yamapi saw at the music store was quite unpleasant for him.
He saw Ryo and Uchi was there. Looking at the guitar one by one, side by side.
He saw Uchi cheerfully laughing and talking casually to Ryo. Which has never happen when he talk to Yamapi. Uchi was always polite and didn’t talk much when he’s with Yamapi.
Yamapi felt a little anger starting to grow on him. He just stared at them, the two wouldn’t be able to notice him because they are facing backwards.
Why would Uchi lied?
Why he said that he’s already on the way home?
Ryo and Uchi were already at the cashier, and not long after that they went outside. But it had rained so hard outside. So Yamapi saw Uchi took an umbrella from his bag, and give it to Ryo.
“I only have one..” Uchi said.
“That’s okay.. We could share it..” said Ryo.
“Ai ai gasa ne?”
They chuckles before walking together under the hard rain. They’re protecting the guitar so they put it in the middle between them. It looks like they’re hugging each other from behind. Just like that, slowly disappearing from the store.
Yamapi felt really awful right now. He really felt upset seeing Uchi with someone else.
He’s angry.

Ryo and Uchi were already inside the car, but the rain still pouring really hard outside. It caused a traffic jam. The cars are barely moving. And they were freezing because their clothes are wet from running before. Clearly one umbrella did not fit two person and a guitar.
“Yokatta.. the guitar is just fine, ne..” said Uchi looking at the guitar on the back seat.
“Hey, Ucchan.. I’m sorry to keep you this late.. It’s already 11 pm and we’re still stuck here..”
“No, it’s okay.. No, problem at all..”
“I’m afraid your brothers are looking for you..” said Ryo, he felt sorry again.
Uchi smiled a bit then sighed. “They are used to be home alone, because I had to work.. Yuto is already in Junior High school, so he’s the one in charge of the apartment when I’m not around.. He also takes care of Ryutaro..”
“Souuka..” nodded Ryo.” What about your other brother?”
“Oh, Kota.. He’s.. He’s just going.. Well.. It’s not like..”
Ryo noticed that Uchi having trouble answering the last question. So he just turn the radio on, and they grew silent after that. While Ryo was cursing the road for being so crowded and stuck, suddenly Uchi’s cellphone rang again.
“Yes?”
“Hi.. It’s me..”
It’s Yamapi , Uchi knew just by hearing his voice.
“Yes?”
“Where are you now?” asked Yamapi.
“Yamashita-kun.. The weather is really bad.. I can’t hear you right, maybe the signals.. Hello?”
“I want to meet you..”
“Yes? I’m sorry I can’t really hear you.. Where are you?” asked Uchi loudly.
“I’m at Shibuya.. But can I see you?”
“What?!”
“I’m coming over to your house.. Okay..”
“Yamashita-kun? Ehh..?” The call ended. Uchi thought it must be because of the bad weather. So he just put his cellphone back to his pocket. While Ryo was staring at him, asking what’s going on.
“What’s wrong? Is it one of your brothers? I feel bad..If I’d knew it would be raining like this, I wouldn’t ask you to go…” said Ryo starting to feel guilty again.
“No.. no.. Daijobu yo.. It’s not my brother.. It’s Yamashita-kun..”
“Oh.. What did he say?”
“I don’t know.. I can’t hear him..” said Uchi worried.
“At all?”
“I think he’s trying to tell me something.. But I just can’t figure it out.. Maybe I’ll call him back as soon as the rain stops..”

It’s almost an hour until they finally reached Uchi’s apartment. It was already midnight. The road was tiring and they’re just so glad to have reached the destination. He rain is even getting harder and now along with the thunders.
Ryo went inside to borrow some towels and maybe a change of clothes. They are running to enter the apartment. And when Uchi opened the door, he saw Yuto was hugging Ryutaro there on the living room. It seems like Ryutaro had been crying because of the thunders.
“Nii-chan!!” cried Ryutaro, he hurriedly went to Uchi’s arms and hugged his brother.
“Ryuu.. I’m sorry.. I’m sorry..” said Uchi as he caresses his little brother’s back. He felt bad that Ryutaro was awake at this hour and scared. “Yuto, gomen.. I was late.. Where’s Kota?”
“Kota-nii didn’t come back today.. Maybe he’s sleeping over at his friend’s house..” answered Yuto. Yuto also seems sleepy. But he stayed awake too to make Ryutaro feels safe.
“Kota.. Why at this time you’re not here…” said Uchi worriedly.
“Nii-chan.. It’s scary…” cried Ryutaro.
Ryo just stood there, seeing Uchi taking care of his brother. It was his fault keeping Uchi with him, and got stuck in a traffic in such weather. Ryo felt so bad. It was also the first time he saw Uchi’s family.
“I think.. We’re in a storm.. Because the rain is getting harder..” said Ryo as he looked into the window before closing the curtain again. “Ck… I bet the traffic is a lot worse on the way back to the city.. How am I going to get home…”
“Nishikido-kun.. I don’t think you should drive your way back.. It’s too dangerous..”
“I guess so too.. Well, I might have to stay here.. But, are you okay if I stay over?”

Uchi and the brothers spread their futon on the living room. It’s where they usually sleeps anyway. The apartment only has one bedroom and Kota gets to have that.
Ryutaro and Yuto has fallen asleep first inside their futon. While Uchi and Ryo made a hot coffee just to warm themselves. The air is incredibly cold, Uchi worried that his brothers might’ve catch cold because of the weather.
“What time is it?” asked Ryo, after finishing the last cup of hot coffee.
“It’s 2.30.. I think we should go to sleep.. The storm will be over soon..” said Uchi slowly. He patted on Ryutaro’s head softly, pulled the blanket to cover both Ryutaro and Yuto.
“Okay..” said Ryo.
“Gomen ne, Nishikido-kun.. I only have one futon..” said Uchi looking guilty, he already prepared a carpet for Ryo, so that Ryo doesn’t have to sleep on the floor.
“That’s okay, I can sleep on the carpet just beside you.. I’m fine, don’t worry..”
“Oh okay.. Good night, Nishikido-kun..” said Uchi as he lay himself on the futon beside Ryutaro and Yuto. His eyes weren’t all that sleepy, but he forced himself to close it. He needs rest. He still has to work tomorrow.
Uchi saw Ryo taking of his shirt before lying down on the carpet. Uchi wanted to ask but maybe that’s just a habit in sleeping, some guys takes off his shirt when they’re sleeping, right?
In just a minute, Uchi heard all three people in the same room had already fallen asleep. But he still couldn’t sleep and why is that? He kept thinking of someone, he kept thinking of Yamapi. And suddenly he got worried. He’s wondering where Yamapi is right now.
He took a glance at his cellphone, there’s no signals available.
Uchi sighed before he fell in a deep sleep.

It was about two hours later, Uchi woke up because he heard a knock on the front door. He saw the clock at the wall, it’s still 4.30 in the morning. Seems like the rain had stopped. Uchi got up and walked to the door, he opened it quickly and saw that Yamapi was there.
“Yamashita-kun.. Why are you..” asked Uchi surprised.
“Hi.. I’m sorry, were you sleeping?” asked Yamapi, he stared at the floor.
“No, it’s okay.. Why are you here..?”
“I dunno.. I just want to meet you..” said Yamapi.
“You drive here? With the storm before?” asked Uchi worriedly. He couldn’t believe it.
“Yeah, I got stuck for like two hours on the road..” said Yamapi with a bitter smile on his face.
“Oh my god, you shouldn’t have… Yamashita-kun,. Look at you, you might be freezing!”
Yamapi just smile. Uchi’s body moved by itself when suddenly he gave Yamapi a hug. Because he feels like hugging him. He missed him too. He felt foolish. He shouldn’t get upset over
stupid things.
Uchi realized it right now, seeing Yamapi on his doorstep, that he likes Yamapi.
“I don’t care.. I just want to see you..” said Yamapi after that. Yamapi hurriedly hug Uchi
back, tighter. He’s been angry for a while but it’s only because he wants to be with Uchi.
“Because you hang up on my call.. And you talked coldly.. And you’re going with that Ryo guy, I saw you, you know.. You lied to me.. You’re going out with Ryo..”
“I.. I’m sorry.. But I was only helping him, Yamashita-kun..”
“Really?”
“Yes..”
Uchi stared at him, still not believing that he’s inside Yamapi’s arms. His heart is beating so fast. He doesn’t know he could be this close to Yamapi right now.
“And yes, to answer your question earlier, I’m freezing like hell…”
Uchi giggles. As he pulled Yamapi’s hand and bring him inside the apartment. He wanted to make some hot coffee for Yamapi. He could feel that Yamapi tighten his grip on Uchi’s hand when they’re holding hands.
But the moment they reached the living room, Yamapi pulled his hand away from Uchi. And he stop his step. Uchi was surprised, then he turns his head back at Yamapi.
“What is he doing here?” asked Yamapi furiously.
Uchi saw Yamapi was staring at Ryo who’s currently sleeping on Uchi’s futon.
For a moment there Uchi forgot that Ryo was sleeping over due to the storm before. Uchi got panicked and scared suddenly seeing Yamapi’s face like that. He knew that it’s too late to explain. He knew that Yamapi would be mad at this too.
“Yamapi.. It’s..” Uchi tried to explain.
“He.. He’s sleeping next to you?”
“Yes, but..”
“Bastard!!” said Yamapi as he grabbed on Ryo and hit him.

Ryo noticed that Uchi having trouble answering the last question. So he just turn the radio on, and they grew silent after that. While Ryo was cursing the road for being so crowded and stuck, suddenly Uchi’s cellphone rang again.
“Yes?”
“Hi.. It’s me..”
It’s Yamapi , Uchi knew just by hearing his voice.
“Yes?”
“Where are you now?” asked Yamapi.
“Yamashita-kun.. The weather is really bad.. I can’t hear you right, maybe the signals.. Hello?”
“I want to meet you..”
“Yes? I’m sorry I can’t really hear you.. Where are you?” asked Uchi loudly.
“I’m at Shibuya.. But can I see you?”
“What?!”
“I’m coming over to your house.. Okay..”
“Yamashita-kun? Ehh..?” The call ended. Uchi thought it must be because of the bad weather. So he just put his cellphone back to his pocket. While Ryo was staring at him, asking what’s going on.
“What’s wrong? Is it one of your brothers? I feel bad..If I’d knew it would be raining like this, I wouldn’t ask you to go…” said Ryo starting to feel guilty again.
“No.. no.. Daijobu yo.. It’s not my brother.. It’s Yamashita-kun..”
“Oh.. What did he say?”
“I don’t know.. I can’t hear him..” said Uchi worried.
“At all?”
“I think he’s trying to tell me something.. But I just can’t figure it out.. Maybe I’ll call him back as soon as the rain stops..”

It’s almost an hour until they finally reached Uchi’s apartment. It was already midnight. The road was tiring and they’re just so glad to have reached the destination. He rain is even getting harder and now along with the thunders.
Ryo went inside to borrow some towels and maybe a change of clothes. They are running to enter the apartment. And when Uchi opened the door, he saw Yuto was hugging Ryutaro there on the living room. It seems like Ryutaro had been crying because of the thunders.
“Nii-chan!!” cried Ryutaro, he hurriedly went to Uchi’s arms and hugged his brother.
“Ryuu.. I’m sorry.. I’m sorry..” said Uchi as he caresses his little brother’s back. He felt bad that Ryutaro was awake at this hour and scared. “Yuto, gomen.. I was late.. Where’s Kota?”
“Kota-nii didn’t come back today.. Maybe he’s sleeping over at his friend’s house..” answered Yuto. Yuto also seems sleepy. But he stayed awake too to make Ryutaro feels safe.
“Kota.. Why at this time you’re not here…” said Uchi worriedly.
“Nii-chan.. It’s scary…” cried Ryutaro.
Ryo just stood there, seeing Uchi taking care of his brother. It was his fault keeping Uchi with him, and got stuck in a traffic in such weather. Ryo felt so bad. It was also the first time he saw Uchi’s family.
“I think.. We’re in a storm.. Because the rain is getting harder..” said Ryo as he looked into the window before closing the curtain again. “Ck… I bet the traffic is a lot worse on the way back to the city.. How am I going to get home…”
“Nishikido-kun.. I don’t think you should drive your way back.. It’s too dangerous..”
“I guess so too.. Well, I might have to stay here.. But, are you okay if I stay over?”

Uchi and the brothers spread their futon on the living room. It’s where they usually sleeps anyway. The apartment only has one bedroom and Kota gets to have that.
Ryutaro and Yuto has fallen asleep first inside their futon. While Uchi and Ryo made a hot coffee just to warm themselves. The air is incredibly cold, Uchi worried that his brothers might’ve catch cold because of the weather.
“What time is it?” asked Ryo, after finishing the last cup of hot coffee.
“It’s 2.30.. I think we should go to sleep.. The storm will be over soon..” said Uchi slowly. He patted on Ryutaro’s head softly, pulled the blanket to cover both Ryutaro and Yuto.
“Okay..” said Ryo.
“Gomen ne, Nishikido-kun.. I only have one futon..” said Uchi looking guilty, he already prepared a carpet for Ryo, so that Ryo doesn’t have to sleep on the floor.
“That’s okay, I can sleep on the carpet just beside you.. I’m fine, don’t worry..”
“Oh okay.. Good night, Nishikido-kun..” said Uchi as he lay himself on the futon beside Ryutaro and Yuto. His eyes weren’t all that sleepy, but he forced himself to close it. He needs rest. He still has to work tomorrow.
Uchi saw Ryo taking of his shirt before lying down on the carpet. Uchi wanted to ask but maybe that’s just a habit in sleeping, some guys takes off his shirt when they’re sleeping, right?
In just a minute, Uchi heard all three people in the same room had already fallen asleep. But he still couldn’t sleep and why is that? He kept thinking of someone, he kept thinking of Yamapi. And suddenly he got worried. He’s wondering where Yamapi is right now.
He took a glance at his cellphone, there’s no signals available.
Uchi sighed before he fell in a deep sleep.

It was about two hours later, Uchi woke up because he heard a knock on the front door. He saw the clock at the wall, it’s still 4.30 in the morning. Seems like the rain had stopped. Uchi got up and walked to the door, he opened it quickly and saw that Yamapi was there.
“Yamashita-kun.. Why are you..” asked Uchi surprised.
“Hi.. I’m sorry, were you sleeping?” asked Yamapi, he stared at the floor.
“No, it’s okay.. Why are you here..?”
“I dunno.. I just want to meet you..” said Yamapi.
“You drive here? With the storm before?” asked Uchi worriedly. He couldn’t believe it.
“Yeah, I got stuck for like two hours on the road..” said Yamapi with a bitter smile on his face.
“Oh my god, you shouldn’t have… Yamashita-kun,. Look at you, you might be freezing!”
Yamapi just smile. Uchi’s body moved by itself when suddenly he gave Yamapi a hug. Because he feels like hugging him. He missed him too. He felt foolish. He shouldn’t get upset over
stupid things.
Uchi realized it right now, seeing Yamapi on his doorstep, that he likes Yamapi.
“I don’t care.. I just want to see you..” said Yamapi after that. Yamapi hurriedly hug Uchi
back, tighter. He’s been angry for a while but it’s only because he wants to be with Uchi.
“Because you hang up on my call.. And you talked coldly.. And you’re going with that Ryo guy, I saw you, you know.. You lied to me.. You’re going out with Ryo..”
“I.. I’m sorry.. But I was only helping him, Yamashita-kun..”
“Really?”
“Yes..”
Uchi stared at him, still not believing that he’s inside Yamapi’s arms. His heart is beating so fast. He doesn’t know he could be this close to Yamapi right now.
“And yes, to answer your question earlier, I’m freezing like hell…”
Uchi giggles. As he pulled Yamapi’s hand and bring him inside the apartment. He wanted to make some hot coffee for Yamapi. He could feel that Yamapi tighten his grip on Uchi’s hand when they’re holding hands.
But the moment they reached the living room, Yamapi pulled his hand away from Uchi. And he stop his step. Uchi was surprised, then he turns his head back at Yamapi.
“What is he doing here?” asked Yamapi furiously.
Uchi saw Yamapi was staring at Ryo who’s currently sleeping on Uchi’s futon.
For a moment there Uchi forgot that Ryo was sleeping over due to the storm before. Uchi got panicked and scared suddenly seeing Yamapi’s face like that. He knew that it’s too late to explain. He knew that Yamapi would be mad at this too.
“Yamapi.. It’s..” Uchi tried to explain.
“He.. He’s sleeping next to you?”
“Yes, but..”
“Bastard!!” said Yamapi as he grabbed on Ryo and hit him.
