Chapter Four
“So?” asked Ryo suddenly when they’re already at the car, driving back home. Tegoshi has just finished his first day working.
“So… Nani?” asked Tegoshi back.
“Are you done playing at the supermarket? Planning on quitting yet? There are a lot of people who needs job rather than someone who has no intention of being serious..” said Ryo casually.
“Whatever.. Please be quiet, driver-san..” smiled Tegoshi sarcastically.
“Who was the one with you before? What does he do? Where does he live? What kind of background does he have?”
Tegoshi’s eyebrows twitched. “This again?”
Tegoshi felt irritated by the question that Ryo asked everytime he met new people. Ryo always does this, he said it’s for safety. Tegoshi knew that maybe Junichi order him so, but it’s just getting pretty annoying for Tegoshi.
“Please answer..”
“HOW WOULD I KNOW?!” said Tegoshi with his pride loud voice.
The atmosphere changed suddenly. Ryo even can sense Tegoshi’s bad mood is growing. Then again, he’s already getting used to it.
Tegoshi leaned forward from the back seat until he can reach the radio and turn it so loud. This way he doesn’t hear any single word that Ryo wil say again. He also added his singing voice but not harmonize, just an unbearable noise sound to show his protest.
After a while, Ryo turn the volume down. He heard that Tegoshi was cursing him from behind.
“Ne.. Ryo, where’s Aniki?” asked Tegoshi. He was seating on the back but suddenly he jump across the seat and sat on the front, next to Ryo.
“Junichi-san is at the house.. I think.. He went home before I go..” answered Ryo short.
“Where were you guys before?”
“Some places..”
“Humm…” Tegoshi nodded. It must be some kind of deal on the yakuza world, that Tegoshi could careless. Tegoshi opened the car window to feel the breeze. It’s the end of summer and they’re entering the fall season.
“Ryo, did you kill anyone today?”
There was a long pause from Ryo, Tegoshi glanced a little at him.
“No..”

I think he did..He just killed someone.
It’s not the first time I saw him like this, tired looking face and covered with blood. He must’ve been doing some dangerous business with my brother..

“Anyway, Tegoshi.. When Junichi-san used this car this morning, he saw the uniform and he asked me…” Ryo’s word was cut off by Tegoshi who was suddenly holding him like he was mad and scared. Ryo even has to pull over because Tegoshi didn’t let go of his hand that was holding the steering wheel.
“WHAT DID YOU SAY TO HIM? You didn’t tell him that was mine, did you?!!!!” threatened Tegoshi.
“Well.. I was going to..”
“Don’t you dare.. If you ratted about this to Aniki, and if I get scolded by him, I swear I’ll destroy you..” said Tegoshi with glaring eyes. Ryo looked straight to it, then he put his gaze down.
“I didn’t tell him.. I said that it was mine..” Ryo sighed.
Tegoshi smiled. “That was close…” He’s back at his proper seat, looking satisfied.
“But that’s it, I’m not going to save you again.. Next time, if he ask I’ll tell him..” said Ryo hurriedly. “I just can’t stand the way he and the other were laughing when I told them it was my uniform..”
“BHhHhh.. BWAHAHAHHAA!! I would’ve laugh!! You in this uniform.. Oh, how sweet..” teased Tegoshi giggly.
“See.. Just like this.. Yamette kudasai..” asked Ryo.
“Since you save me, I’ll tell you what you want to know.. The person I’m with before was my working partner.. His name is Ucchan.. That’s all I know..”
“Ucchan? Uchimura.. Uchiyama.. Uchihara..” mumbled Ryo trying to guess the real name of that person. Because he knew Tegoshi’s habbit of giving people nicknames.
“Uchi Hiroki! Gosh, Ryo.. Why don’t you just ask! You looked stupid..”
“Well, stop giving people nicknames in the first place..”
“Awww.. Are you jealous that you don’t have a nickname????” said Tegoshi
with his baby voice. Tickling Ryo’s chin playfully. Ryo hurriedly put
Tegoshi’s hand away. He’s not going to let some spoiled boy making fun of him.
“Jyaa.. You want one?” asked Tegoshi smirking.
“No need..”
Tegoshi giggles more. “ I thought of one… Want to know?”
Ryo just kept silent.
“It’s… JERK!”
“Thankyou very much..” answered Ryo.
“You are very welcome..” Tegoshi nodded.

“I’m home, Aniki!” said Tegoshi cheerfully when they arrived at home and he saw his beloved brother was sitting on the living room. Junichi was having a meeting with two other scary looking dudes.
But Tegoshi just walked in and didn’t care if he might have been disturbing the gathering. Ryo followed behind Tegoshi. The other two nodded when they saw Ryo, they might have known each other, Tegoshi thought.
“Yuya.. Did you just got back?” greets Junichi.
“Uhn! Look look I got 90 on my Mat test.. And also, I brought you some chips from the supermarket.. Here you go..” said Tegoshi giving Junichi a piece of paper and a bag full of potato chip.
Junnichi took it from Tegoshi’s hand. “Great, you never failed to make me proud! And thanks for this chip.. From the supermarket? Oh, the one where Ryo works?”
Ryo blinks madly, but he couldn’t protest.
Tegoshi nodded happily and smiled so wide. “Yea!! He’s such a hard worker.. Heehehe.. Well, i’m going to my room, see you in the morning, Aniki!” said Tegoshi while he waved bye-bye to his brother and dragged Ryo out from the living room, up to the stairs.
“Thank you for embarrassing me again…” said Ryo bluntly.
“Always a pleasure..” Tegoshi gave a wink to Ryo before disappearing to
his room. “Nighty night, Ryo!” and he closed his bedroom door.
Ryo stood in front of Tegosi’s room for 10 seconds before he let out a sigh and moved from there. Any day would seem longer than usual when there’s Tegoshi involved, in Ryo’s case it’s almost every day.

The next day, Tegoshi came to the supermarket again to work there. He was wearing the uniform this time but added some accessories to make the uniform less boring.
This time he brought Nintendo Ds with him and almost never gone from his hands the whole time. He was supposed to move the Egg cart to the storeroom, but Uchi end up doing it alone.
“Ucchan, are we done yet?” asked Tegoshi while push one cart slowly, powerless and with one hand still playing the Nintendo DS.
“Yes, it’s done.. Almost..” said Uchi wiping his own sweat with his sleeve. He pushed the last cart (it was Tegoshi’s cart, by the way) to the storeroom and closed the door. Then he sat down at the nearest chair for a bit looking exhausted.
“Ucchan, are you tired.. Let me buy you some drinks…” Tegoshi was about to grab a juice and headed to the cashier when suddenly Uchi stop him.
“It’s okay.. You don’t have to do that, I mean, it’s weird if you became a costumer while we’re working here.. I can drink later in the locker room..” smiled Uchi.
“Fine, then.. Or you want to play? I’ll let you play with my game.. Here..” offered Tegoshi innocently.
Uchi shook his head. Then he laughs a little. “No, I’m fine… Thanks, Tegoshi.. But i don’t really like to play games..”
“Really?” asked Tegoshi sounded surprised. “Ne.. Ne.. Today we’re going to karaoke, right? You promised..”
“Oh.. That.. Gomen, Tegoshi.. I have another work after done from here…”
“Ehhhhhhhhh?” pouts Tegoshi.
“Every Wednesday night and Friday night I work at Kato Night Club..”
“COOL!! You can do that? Aren’t you supposed to be like 21 at least to work in a place like that? You’re the same age like me, aren’t you? I lied about my age when I applied here, but I guess supermarket doesn’t seem so strict.. I would love to work in a night club!” said Tegoshi getting excited suddenly.
“I lied too.. I said I was 22, but I’m actually just turn 20..” said Uchi smiling bitterly.
“19? You seem younger, ne.. I’m going to be 18 soon, so you’re only a couple year above me.. Yoshh, that’s great.. I’ll introduce you to my friends, then we could hang out together… Take a day off today, we’ll have some fun!”
“Sorry, Tegoshi..” Uchi shook his head.
“Ucchan, you’re making me sad..” pouts Tegoshi again, staring at Uchi’s
eyes.
“Gomen… I don’t mean to.. But..”
“Why do you have so much work? This and that.. Whatever.. Are you poor or something?”
Uchi just stayed speechless everytime he had a conversation with Tegoshi. He can’t help to be surprised everytime Tegoshi said something very frankly and without concern at all. It’s not that Uchi embarrassed about his current condition, but sometimes it just hard to say it to other people.
“ I have 3 brothers.. So, I pretty much needs money for them..” answered Uchi honestly.
“Why don’t you just ask money from your parent?” Tegoshi rolled his eyes.
Uchi stared at Tegoshi for a bit. But he sure that Tegoshi meant no harm saying and asking all those question, so Uchi just replied with “They lived far away from us..”

At the end of the day, Tegoshi and Uchi’s last shift was to stand by at the cashier. Suddenly there’s someone tall, wearing a cap appeared on their cashier. He was only buying a chocolate bar and a can of beer.
“Pikachu!”
Uchi was shocked hearing that. He observed the guest intently before
realizing that he was..
“Yamashita-san… What are you doing here?” said Uchi slowly. Now he felt shy hearing Yamapi called him with that name.
“Obviously, buying stuff..”
“I mean.. Oh, right.. Sorry.. Anyway, please don’t call me that here..”
Yamapi laughed. “So you prefer ‘scary teacher’? Just kidding.. Are you working here too?”
Uchi nodded, he’s feeling a little awkward meeting with this man again. The last time he they talked, they were fighting over stupid thing. And also Uchi can’t seem to get over the guilty feeling of hitting Yamapi’s back with a broom yesterday.
“Where’s Chinen-kun..? asked Uchi.
“He’s at the car.. He crying and said that he wanted chocolate, so this is actually for him..” Yamapi points at the stuff he bought.
“Oh.. Poor him, crying… Say hello for me then..”
“Okay.. See ya..” smiled Yamapi. He gave a nod and then walking away from there. Uchi turn his head away from staring at Yamapi’s back until he disappear. He tried to do something else like tidying up the money and such.
Then suddenly, he realized that Tegoshi was looking at him strangely.
“Tegoshi, daijobu?” asked Uchi.
“Ucchan, who was that?” asked Tegoshi looking all dreamy.
“Eh? That was.. How should I say this.. I work at this Care center and then there’s this one kid..”
“Just the name.. His name..” said Tegoshi hurriedly.
“Umm.. Yamashita Tomohsa-san..”
“Yamashita Tomohisa..” Tegoshi repeats.
“Tegoshi?” Uchi patted his shoulder, trying to get his attention back.
“Kakkoiiiiiiiiiiii………………………….” Smiled Tegoshi. Looks like he got something on his mind.
