I have not posted in over a year and so much has changed. Two thousand ten was a ridiculously busy year for me, for us- I can't help remembering standing on the sidewalk in front of Susi and Sonny's house on New Years' Eve thinking that 2010 couldn't be any worse than the previous year. We got our first taste of bitter cold Saturday. The temperature when I left the house at 6:30 in the morning was around forty-seven, and when I got done with my duties at work at around 10:30, the parking lot was misted with rain and the temperature had dropped nearly ten degrees. These are the halcyon days where Christy and I resist Christmas cheer with all our might. Christy and I tracked down the rehabilitator that is taking care of our young friend. He is a young male pelican born last spring. His right wing was fractured. They intend to keep him until next spring, at which point he'll be released into the wild.

The good news- we'll be able to go visit him for Thanksgiving!
