I have not posted in over a year and so much has changed. Two thousand ten was a ridiculously busy year for me, for us- I can't help remembering standing on the sidewalk in front of Susi and Sonny's house on New Years' Eve thinking that 2010 couldn't be any worse than the previous year. Two thousand nine was unforgiving it its turn of events. I looked forward to the possibilities that lay ahead for the new year. Ever the optimist, me.
The major life-changing events shaped the year: the house that we'd thought we lost, we bought. The day we closed the house was the day we conceived our son, Max. At the end of September we lost Christy's mother Susi to a genetic condition that fatally unzipped her aorta one night while she was cooking us dinner. In the last couple of hours of the year my son was born and now I am augmented in a way I cannot describe.
I am reluctant to say that two thousand eleven will be better than 2010, but listening to my son cry and breathe gives me more hope than I have ever had before in my entire life that things will change for the better.
