I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I've been off my computer for the past several days, so I can focus as much time towards completing this project as I can. It has to be finished in a couple of weeks for the competition, and it has to have documentation, too. If possible, I'd like for it to be in its final form as a casket/box, which ( Read more... )

The secret project is secret no longer. It was an embroidered silk bag as a gift for modehistorique, who was elevated to the Order of the Laurel this past weekend.

Yesterday I went to the library and picked up a book that Elmsley Rose (elmsley-rose) suggested on FB, Embroidery Masterworks by Virginia Bath. It's an older book of embroidery (1972), but in it, she's gone to the Art Institute of Chicago, and shares the info on various embroidered items within the book from a variety of time frames, including those within the ( Read more... )

I've not been doing a whole lot, but the past few days I actually spent a few hours to actually finish a section of my heraldic embroidery project. The section is known as Quarter 4, and has the pomegranate and the columbine as the two biggest motifs. Since I got home from MAAS (Sebastapol faire), I have picked up the embroidery project I was working on before. I am now working on adding gold threads to the ground, all couched into place. ( more under the cut, including pics. )

I've been busy with other ideas, and then got sick earlier this week, so it took a bit longer to finish off the last bit of Quarter Four motifs (except the "fingers").
