I just quit my job.

My last day is August 28, and my last day in the country is September 3.

I don't think I wrote about it on here, but I founded a non-profit theatre company and directed our first play.  It was this past weekend, and it was wonderful!  It felt so good to watch it all unfold onstage, costumed, propped, lighted, and with a real audience to react to everything!  I was really proud of it.  I wish we'd been a little smarter ( Read more... )

In this recent journal entry, I mentioned fearing for the safety of aid workers and the people who depend on them in Sudan.  President Bashir's lashing out at aid groups in response to the ICC's war crimes warrant creates an even more dangerous atmosphere than there was before.

I just borrowed a Chuck Palahniuk book - Survivor - from a friend, and, oh, Chuck, who else writes like you?  It's not usually my style, but I love it.  Three chapters in, I'm enjoying myself immensely.

The University for Peace (UPeace), a UN-chartered university in Costa Rica devoted entirely to peace & conflict resolution studies, offers a Gender and Peacebuilding masters program.  I think I might do it...

This is an amazing resource!  It's a list of the top women throughout history.  Each name has a link, so for the (surprising) number I don't know, I can just click and learn!  I love learning, and it's especially sweet when it's about badass women!

I don't agree with what all of them did, but it's certainly interesting and enlightening.

On Saturday, I am going to the daily free 6pm performance at the Kennedy Center. Suheir Hammad, the performer, is a Def Poetry Jam alumna, poet, author, director, and activist from Brooklyn.
